Alright, now it's time to find out how old/poor/goofy we all are.

What was your first vehicle, and how did you get it ?

1966 Dodge Dart, 2 dr, 6cyl, body and paint gone....parents gave it to me in 85, finally had it roadworthy in 87... Baby moons and chrome reverse wheels in back

Geez, white trash now that I think about it.....

1958 Ford Falcon, 2dr, built it in 68 when I got my license in NJ. Built it from three others. Body was baby blue, doors were light green and hood and trunk were black. 6cyl 2sp auto. Got me around for a year or so till I got lazy and didn't add antifreeze in time, one nite the coolant froze and blew all the freeze plugs out on the way to school:D
Dragged it home and let it defrost in the garage for 3 days, put new freeze plugs in, anti-freeze and drove it for another 5 months, motor was unkillable, gotta love these straight 6's we have :D
Replaced it with a 66 Mustang GT rag top, 289 4 speed, detroit locker and red stripe tires :D

A white 1976 AMC Pacer. It had blue interior no radio and the rocker panels were rusted out (imagine that on an AMC vehicle). My Dad got it from this eccentric older couple that he and my Mom were friends with for $200.00. It had about 60,000 miles on it when I got it in 1984. The car had polyglass radial tires and shortly after I got it the cable that operated the rear brakes snapped and I was suddenly able to the best brake tourques in town for a 6 cylinder bag of crap. I mangaed to blow the motor within about six months (I have no idea how that could have happened Dad??LOL) But it was fun while I had it. I put on the rear hatch in black electrical tape "the egg mobile" that was good for getting laughs.

A '65 Ford Ranchero.... my folks got tired of hauling me and my dirt bike around in my dad's truck, so they got my my own psuedo truck.... I miss that truck.... :(

'79 Mustang Ghia with a 302, 2 barrel carb and bald rear tires. Bought it for $400 from a friend. A good vehicle to learn car control in. ;)

I had 2 first cars. A 1947 Willys and a 1955 Ford Crown Victoria, spent 9 months in the garage for a new paint job and new interior. Dad was ticked off when I had dua glasspaks put on it. The Willys was just for winter and rolling over to see how much it would take.

'73 Monte Carlo bought from my folks in '83 when I was 14. I drove that thing around the fields for a year and a half before I could take to the streets.

1970 Chrysler Newport. Grandpa bought it for $50, replaced spark plugs to get it running and gave it to me. He figured I would be safe in it. He was right! Two weeks later I knocked over a wood light pole. Although it had a big "V" in the front, I was able to drive it for another couple of months.

I junked the Newport and bought a 340 1971 Dodge Demon with an 8 track tape player. White exterior with orange and black interior (it was ugly). I consider this "my" first car since I bought it on my own. Built up the 340 using a really stupid cam and all the supporting stuff to go along with it. Had lots of fun.... and trouble too. Very fast car for a reckless 18 year old. Fond memories of those "cruising" days. That was 1979, somedays it would be great to go back!

In 1995 I got 1986 2.8L V6 XJ.... I guess that says it all LOL While I had the XJ, I got a 1997 Ford Range (biggest POS I have ever had: I had trouble making it over tiny hills while going to SD to dive)..... and then I got the 98 XJ and I got rid of the 86XJ and 97Ford soon after :)

I was 13 when I bought it with my lawn mowing money. Turd brown was the color it was born with. One of my best friends and I spent the winter in my Dad's un-insulated machine shed with an Ol' Ben Franklin wood burner "restoring" my pride and joy. We hacked out the rust and arc welded, or pop riveted, in scrap pieces of galvanized sheet metal that were lying around the shed. Slapped in a few quarts of Bondo and bombed it with rattle can flat black. I learned at an early age that I would never be an automotive body man! When we got bored, or just tired of sanding Bondo, we would bust out the hidden pack of Salem Lights, load up the Daisy, and shoot sparrows. The mods were: Homemade 4" double tube front bumper (no end caps), Full 3" cage, white steelies with bald 31" Cooper's. Good Times!

1989 S-10 Blazer. It was stocker than hell despite my big lift aspirations. It was running like a top when a drunk college kid ran a stop sign in front of me while I was going about 40. The sheet metal was a little rumpled, but the insurance company junked it. Somebody got a good deal on a nice 4.3L. It still lives on though, a lot of the accessories made it over to the good ol' XJ.

1950 Hudson "Pacemaker" 2-door brougham (sedan).

Dealer offered my folks all of $100 when they wanted to buy Mom a new station wagon, and I was going to be getting a license in a year and a half, so they decided to keep the old tank for me to drive.

Hmm....

The first car I drove was a 79 F150 Super Cab long bed Larriet 2wd. Had a 351W that was very fast I think. Always wanted to convert it to 4WD but dad sold it against my wishes. Balck and Silver, with Black seats. Had a tool box built into the side of the bed. Still dont understand why they don't do that anymore. Use to baja that baby all over the orange groves of Indian River County Florida. Burried it several times in the mud and sand down there. The first car I bought and picked out was a 97TJ 2.5L auto. Still miss that thing. Got it in April of 96 when they first came out. Drove all the way up to South Carolina from Florida to find an auto.

Brandy new 1970 Ford Torino GT 351 4bb Cleveland. White with a super cool blue "lazer stripe"! (Weren't the 70's a kick?) :)

After 4 years of borrowing Dad's '61 Mint Green Falcon station wagon, I figured a degree was worth something a bit quicker!

Many a night (boy, I was even stupider then) spent jousting with my buddy and his SS396 Chevelle - couldn't quite touch him in the quarter, but that Cleveland could cruise all day at 100+ w/o flinching.

How's about a 1974 Chevrolet Caprice with a 400 small block 2 door silver with a black top? It was given to me by my grandparents(who had bought it brand new in 74) when I was 14. Had it for 4 years and now own my very own xj. I loved that car, but, it was just that, so I had to sell it for the old 4x4.

Guess I was lucky for my first vehicle to be a Jeep. 1986 Comanche long bed 2.5L 4x4. It was the most fun truck at school. I drove it from my 16th birthday in november until Christmas Eve when i didnt check the oil and drove it about 15 miles bone dry. Put like 5 quarts in it, fired it up and took it down the road with the strangest knocking sound from under the hood. I got about half a mile down the road and KABOOM threw a rod. The rod cap blew a hole in the block and to this day I can still see it bouncing down the road in the rear view mirror. For Christmas the next day my dad gave me one of those plaques for a deer or other games head that gets mounted on with the rod cap hot glued to the center of it. He even had a brass strip under it that had "Mikes MJ 1986-1992" stamped on it. Needless to say, I check the oil religously now;)
