Replaced the bushing I cooked on the rear of my passenger side Deaver leaf. Not sure why since it looks like most wheeling is on hold.

It is a way to get rid of the coil bar in '00 and '01 XJ's.
What Ralph said. Eliminates the coil rail in 2000+
The coil rail is difficult to diagnose if it’s bad so you can just do this and ditch it and you also have much easier/quicker access to your spark plugs for maintenance.

This is not for me? I’m having a draw I think from my coil.
My only motive for doing this was to eliminate suspicion about a misfire I had.

Ok. I’ll have to tool around then. I did my wires to copper 2-4g and did connect the coil wire until I realized that when I changed my altinater to a 136amp and it was dead this morning after sitting the weekend. It has a draw before I did the wires and plugs,wires,cap,rotor,coil. No misfire though.

No. This is for the later coil on plug system.

Finally got my 8.8 back in after attempting to set up my own gears. I thought the pattern looked perfect but that are noisy as hell. I'm going to take it to someone to have the front gears done and a locker installed and I'm going to have them redo the back ones while they're at it. Just posted in modified tech about the front locker. Apparently Eaton discontinued the dana 30 e locker and has a new part number and now availability is scarce. That would happen when I'm finally ready to pull the trigger after years of waiting...

Old school XJs aren't exactly known for their abundant power oulets so I added a low profile USB port into the passenger side cubby to power the nav tablet and give my wife a place to charge things when she goes with me.

This morning I got up cause the dogs wouldnt stop barking and decied to go clean up my center console secondary radio spot install. I routed the SAE connector in and slapped a grommet on it, this will power up any of my radios. Then put all the APRS stuff in there and Routed all the cabling for that and stowed it behind the rear support for the console.

I installed my Boostwerks Tcase shift linkage finally. Still having issues popping it into 4lo, so I see another tcase rebuild in my future.

Trying to track down a small exhaust leak on the XJ. Only hear it under heavy load. Found the junction for the header and downpipe to be loose so replaced the studs/nuts and put in a new donut gasket there.
I have been having a rattling in the front end for a while as well. I have been writing it off as a loose brake dust shield but when I was under there dealing with the exhaust gasket I found the driver's control arm loose and when I looked closer found both the bushings on that control arm had backed out from their bores and were just kind of floating in the control arm.
After I finished up the exhaust issue I pulled the control arm and took them to press them back in and found the control arm bores are now oversized. So I tack welded the bushings to the control arms for a temp fix and ordered some 2004 Grand Cherokee lower control arms.

Replaced lower control arms video above. My ride is better much better with the GC control arms but I'm not sure if that's because the GC arms are so much better or because I'm no longer rolling around on wallowed out bushing bores.
Then even after replacing the header/downpipe gasket I'm still getting an exhaust leak. Checked torque on all the header/intake bolts and found none loose so I'll be hooking up the smoke tester today and seeing if I can find the leak that way. I'm thinking at this point I'm going to find a crack in the header so got a new one added to my Rock Auto cart on standby for check out.
