What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Kawasaki KLR 650. This Is my actual bike. Their website sucks though. I do have a few original news stand copies of the issue that it was featured in as well as a few card stock copies of just the article.

The guy that I bought it from added a center stand which is supposed to be for stable than a regular side stand, but I never use it and want to keep unnecessary weight off the bike.

Foot pegs are what you put your feet on while you ride.

LOL. I thought you were talking about jeep parts, LMAO. :wave1:

Speaking of cool older stuff I have a US Army Air corp Map from WWII, the air base that did not exist :eyes: at Roswell NM, LOL. Found it years after my father died (WWII pilot) in his old army trunk locked in the attic when we last scoured the house for stuff to save before they bulldozed it to build an ugly 2 story monstrosity in the Gulfgate area. My father had passed away 20 years early and my mother had been moved to a nursing home :(

Also found 1 year of copies of the 1949 Aeronautical engineer's magazines in perfect condition. Amazing that stuff looked, looks like new after 70 years. My old (very old) business partner from the 80s was into buying and restoring old Jap bikes in a big way. He was a collector.

Oh, and I drove my 87 again today DD which is doing better with the new NGK spark plugs on #1 and #2 cyls that have the leaky (oil) valve stem seals. They seem to be a little hotter plug than most plugs offered for the 4.0s

I need a big favor folks!!

I need a Renix head picked up in Arlington (near Dallas) and dropped off to Eddy Texas, to xjintx so he can bring it to me in South Houston. Anybody about to make a close trip that way, or just bored? Or just looking for an excuse to meet some great Naxja Jeep owners?

ordered tuneup parts for the xj. need to also get brake stuff.

trying to decide if i should just upgrade to wj brakes. need to investigate what it takes.

The wj swap definitely takes some work. If I were doing it now I would get the kit from stinky fab.

yea after spending 20-30 minutes looking into im seeing that i dont think i will be doing it haha.

mainly due to the rim size issues. just bought these wheels/tires and have under 200 miles on them. they are going to get driven on a lot more before i change it out.

ill just get new rotors, pads and calipers.

Black magic pads and centric rotors

ive seen a few people talking about that here on the forum. is black magic just a more aggressive pad compound? for 125 for a set of pads id hope so.

after spending some time researching race brake pads for my GTO and running a set of carbotech xp12s on the front they exhibit some behaviors i wouldnt want on the jeep.

what advantage does the black magic pads have over say these from rockauto
http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=6095238&cc=1180112&jsn=632

powerstop carbon ceramics that are 42 for the set.

im not opposed to spending money on good parts, i just want to know a little more about why they are so good before i buy them. feels sorta snakeoil to me hoenstly. the carbotechs i got for my GTO back in 08 were 225 for the front pads so im no stranger to spending a ton on brake pads and i know that they can provide significant increases in stopping power.

Snake oil is good, I use to formulate it, mix it and sell it :-)

Installed the steering wheel I got from picking up Ecomike's cylinder head. :)

Congrats, and nice looking interior.

They hold cope cans really well.

A quick question my xj has a strange molding someone added between the hatch and body. I haven't seen it on others and assume it was a poor attempt at stopping a leak. So how large should the gap between the hatch and body be? Mine looks to be pretty big after this trim is removed.

About 1/2 to 5/8" is normal
