I guess there is no going back now

So I'm guessing that's not your daily anymore

Done yet?

Got the hoods up ( a struggle for me still), and checked and topped off the oil, fluids... and ran the engines, to charge the batteries. They all started :-)

Good luck with that Patrick, I ran LTBs for years and they don't take to balancing very well.

I took it to Barnwell and introduced one of the back doors to a large rock.

Well, the death shakes which often lead to death wobble went from 30-55 to only 35-40 and a whole lot less violent. But I don't have a lot of long optimism about them staying balanced. I am excited to see them work at Barnwell in two weeks.

Oh, you're going to love them offroad. Personally, I don't think I could ever go back to radial tires for wheeling and LTBs were the gateway drug for me. Be prepared to air down to single digits.

Put the beads back in them, it will help some as the bias tires will balance differently when cold versus warm. You may want to look at how much air pressure you run in them, if you have to much pressure the center lugs can cause a shimmy.

Patrick I hate to see what you may try with some actual tread on your tires ;) I sure hope the weather is on our side at Barnwell this year :)

What do you run on the street, I am Aust 20, Do you have bead locks airing to single digits?

I have a junkyard set of wheels and the take offs from my wife's truck for a street set. Their small and look funny, but it keeps the mileage and heat cycles off of my Off Road tires and the jeep get ~20 MPG with them versus the 8MPG with the Off Road tires.

I should be running bead locks, but I just haven't picked up a set. With the LTBs I never went below 8psi, they were 34/10.50-15 on a 15x7.5 wheel. For street tires I'm currently running BFG Rugged trails, but I preferred the Long Trails I had before or the Michelin LTXs.

So I should be back home in tx in a few weeks. I have to drop my puke goat and replace the clutch and throw out bearing, probably see what kind of shape the rest of the tranny is in as well. Anyone want to help take a look? Never dealt with a trans before so any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Beer and dinner may be up for grabs

I might be down for trying to meet up and help. I don't know dick about tranny's.

So my rear driveshaft is rolling around in the back of my Subaru until I have time to take it to a shop that won't charge me almost $400 to have it rebuilt.

I'll be putting the jeep back together this weekend (minus the driveshaft ಠ_ಠ )

Haysus...$400?? You could buy a new one for less.

Dat balance tho

The shop I normally take it to rebuilds it for about $130 (they even paint it).

Their hours are 8-5 and not open on weekends. My work hours are the same and they aren't close enough for me to run over there real quick. Looks like I'll be having someone take it for me.
