What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Nop, not the Jeep AW4, it is a Toyota transmission, not a Jeep-Chrysler.

I'm going to quote MJR here:

"Aisin of Japan and Warner gear is where the AW comes from and they are an independant company that makes transmissions for various automotive companies including (at the time) Jeep, Toyota, Mitsubishi, and more. "

Finally stabbed my zj coils in the front. Now I am happy with my amount of lift. 3.5" up front and stock in the rear.

Now I need 4x4

After years of no coolant bottle leaks, my sons 96 Ford Taurus bottle (maybe 4 years old, with maybe 2.5 years of actual use, decided to crack in a very heavy reinforced area after a cool front hit.... 2 days ago

Today the 89 Renix Jeep bottle started to crack-leak in a similar area. Totally different bottle shapes, brands and sizes. The 89 Renix jeep bottle did get overheated about 2 years ago when a POS radiator plastic tank on the radiator went bad, and it had formed a weak spot 2 years ago at the time, but it held until today.

I think the Halloween Bottle busting Gremlins have arrived early and gone viral :soapbox:, so keep an eye out for them!!!

Do not forget to Gremlinize them too while you winterize them, LOL.

Recent 89 Renix high idle got worse when I fixed the problem, LOL. New battery and new cables and new clamps installed about 8 weeks ago but the ground clamp was loose already. Hard to believe. (or should I say soft lead?)

Working on the 96 Ford Taurus again. Coolant bottle fixed, gremlin morphed into a Cyl #2 misfire CEL flashing code and overheating with disappearing coolant. Radiator hose was way too hard after the bottle replacement 4 days ago too. Not sure I got all the air out of the block the first fill, but I suspect I did. I suspect a head gasket or head....:rattle:

Also have a bad Cat efficiency code now and an older heater O2 sensor code. And a CTS connection issue based on the dash readings when we wiggle the CTS connection.

85 Diesel XJ is my DD all summer, last 4-5 months now.

New windshield is on the Saturn, and now it needs both stickers. Idiot I hired to do the WS destroyed them :smsoap: and the Registration was still good. It still needs a relearn drive to if the emissions junk is fixed before an inspection.

New Diehard battery on the 4x4 white 89 (new) DIED :( , need to carry it back to Sears...

Never a dull moment.

I jumped mine and let it idle for a while.

Got the 87 inspected and legal again. Texas has dropped the the emissions tests on vehicles older than 96 now :-)

So no more sniffer tests :-)

96 Ford head gasket leak blowing gas into the coolant system confirmed :(

New T-stat, new coolant bottle, new CTS, new plugs and wires, new serp belt, and the engine runs great, but gas pressure quickly builds in the closed system (and vapors from the coolant bottle smelled like gasoline). Oil is and was fine. Very little coolant loss the 2 days he drove it. Pressure on the Rad hose was WAY TOO HIGH before it even got warm. Only takes about 60 seconds after releasing some pressure at the bottle cap for the hose to get ROCK hard from limp again. WE did not add Viagra, so it must me the head gasket. Two spark plugs looked like a gasket issue too, as did spy scope looks in the chambers with the plugs out on two Cylinders.

So it is "off with its heads next" for the second time since he bought it on 06? Everything else on the rig is in perfect shape. $150 to $400 and two days should do it.

I thought it was 24 years or older were exempt, what county are you in?

Im curious as well.

1995 and older vehicles will receive the Accelerated Simulation Mode (ASM) test, while 1996 and newer vehicles receive the On-Board Diagnostic (OBDII) test.

Please note that 4 wheel drive vehicles will continue to receive the current Two-Speed Idle test.

Im really hoping you're right Ecomike because I don't want to have to put another catback on my Jeep just to pass emissions when I'm just going to knock it off with some rocks again. :geek:
