What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Looks familiar. I take it all the hardware you needed was there....including longer steering box bolts?

My rig got a bath tonight and washed most of HF's sewer mud off of her. Thanks a lot Mr. Sellsted for picking mud as the entry to our first obstacle.
 
all The Hardware Was There Except 1 Lock Washer (Which I Found In My tool Bag Later) And The steering Box Bolts Weren't Longer, Just Better Quality, Long Enough Though. Wasn't Able To Use The Ds L Bracket, Not enough Room And The Bolts Werent Long Enough With That Brace, Should Be Fine Though, There Is Alot More Metal There Now. I Like It, Havent Driven It Yet Though.

On A Side Note, Im LeakinG More Oil Than Usual And Have A New Mysterious Rad leak. Pretty Sure Rms Leaks, And My ofa May Be Leaking As Well. Gonna Do Both On The Next Oil Change. Hopefully The Bottom Half Of My Motor IsAs Clean As The Top Was When I Did The Valve Cover Gasket.

We bought an 84, 4 banger, 4WD cherokee and it is working great, even with all the ancient smog junk still on it and the carburetor.
 
Finally replaced both sides upper and lower ball joints and U joints. The bearings look like they need to be next :(

Note to self: after going to PINS and playing in the salt water... wash the undercarriage extensively ;)
 
Replaced the brake booster today on the 89, 2WD Cherokee. Now I need the correct bolt, sleeve-bushing, and nuts for the brake peddle, brake light switch assy. The booster that was in this one had the wrong booster shaft (hole too small) and smaller bolt to match it, the hole and bolt were two small a diameter. I had a thread on that about 2 years ago. Hope to find one (bolt-sleeve, bushing and nuts) in a JY or ???? Once I get that part, and get it back together I can check the upper TC lock-unlock switch action, and location.

Found out the bushing I need for the AW4 tail cone is 38 MM (seems they used 35, 38 and 40 MM, and the books do not reveal what year is which on them, so I had to pull the drive shaft and measure the female slip yoke diameter. Now I can order the right bushing and seal on Monday.The old bushing is worn, loose and slowly leaking Trans fluid.

Ordered the same parts for the 87 Wagoneer, NP-242 transfer case tail cone, same exact bushing problem. Did some tune up work on the 2001 Saturn.
 
Have not pulled it yet, hope to this holiday weekend. Still doing U-joints on the Dana 30, and the brake booster on the 2WD 89, needs to be finished (need the correct bolt now for the barke light switch and peddle to booster connection, old one was the wrong booster and wrong bolt diameter) and tune up on the Saturn......and ....LOL

I have a brand new wire welder to try out, buy have not decided how I will fix it yet (The worn clutch peddle pin)
 
Finished the 89, 2WD brake light switch install (new vacuum booster, brakes) and test drove it. Discovered the Saturn I thought I was done with (did the plugs, wires, VC gasket, and Code issue search for the problem) also has a fuel leak near an injector, and two Odd noises and a bad looking cam lobe......OH-JOY!

Got the jeep done just in time!!!!!


Will pull the Saturn fuel rail tomorrow, and try to finish the Dana 30 U-joint replacements on the other 89 (4WD) Jeep too.

I drove mine over TWO WHOLE CURBS!
 
I found out my tires will rub with 4 people in the jeep.

I took my front shaft out yesterday and meant to snag the rear as well. I'm thinking ill take em both to Austin drivetrain for inspection. One of them for sure is a Tom woods ds but at this point, I don't know which. They've both been rebuilt.

At any rate, I was thinking about getting the nicer one balanced and seeing about ordering a new hd unit.
