What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

jeep is overheating again. Slowly at a stand still. Efan still doesn't turn on without the AC on. Once you do turn the AC on, temp stops going up, but doesn't go down.

This is the part where I burn it to the ground, yes?

did you burp it again?

Yep.

Think its time for a new clutch fan. Which I have sitting in the garage. Which will probably get put in tomorrow.

I still don't understand why the efan doesn't kick on without the AC on. Computer?

How do you know it is overheating?

Temp gauge in dash

Don't trust them! They are notorious liars.

Get a cheap IR InfraRed temp tester, about $10 at Harbur Freight, and take readings all over the manifolds, block, head at each port, the radiator in and out, and do some real diagnostics!!! Then recalibrate your dash gauge with some nail polish, LOL.

My Renix Temp dash gauges are all bonkers, off by 60-80 F, high and low side.

The E-fan settings in the ECU/PCMs seems to be set to come at about 220 F, which I think is nuts, but that seems to be the OBD-II OEM set up, and probably OBD-I as well.

Put the new clutch fan in. Now the drive belt screeches when giving it gas. When the drive belt hits the clutch fan pulley, it shifts forward towards the radiator and it is fraying the new belt I just put on. Any ideas?

Nevermind, Im retarded. tightened the belt. DUUHH

Now my right turn signal indicator light in the dash is always on when the headlights/parking lights are on and my right turn signals don't work. Took the front right bigger bulb (below the head lamp) and it was corroded to hell. Think the socket might need cleaning or replaced. How to clean? :|

I got some cleaner but that didn't fix it. Now to figure out where to get a socket.

Drove mine to Galveston and back. No issues

Goodburbon, long time no chat!!!!! How you doing these days?

sandsgg Found out my ebrake holds me on a hill but not if i put it in gear and let the clutch out

I don't think that is possible, if the e-brake is still engaged? If you mean with the e-brake off, maybe the clutch is slipping?

Had to literally drill out a bolt and nut on front wheel of the 89-2WD to try and get the wheel off. The nut had rounded off and there was no way left to grab it (at the time). The wheel nuts were recessed deep in the aluminum wheels.

Still could not get it off, finally tried one of the $25 Vise grip gripper socket sets, and busted a 3/8" socket tip, twisted it clean off with a breaker bar and cheater pipe. Guess the 89 Jeep bolt and nut were NOT MADE IN CHINA!!! :doh:LOL

Finally got it off with a 1/2" breaker bar, and the vise grip soecket, and a 1/2" drive x 1" socket over the vise grip socket...... What a Rube-Goldberg Nightmare from Elm Street that was!!!hasta

We were replacing the wheel-bearing-hub-rotor assy anyway, but that was the toughest lug nut ever. I think Bimmerjeep's Gremlins got loose on my driveway, :wow:LOL!

Rofl mike, the ebrake is just good enough to hold me on a hill but not strong enough to hood me under power not a big deal, just need to tighten it up a bit. Good call on the gremlins lol
