What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Did you swap in the fuel injection too?

My only concern is that I'll end up with the same emissions nightmare that I have now if I stay with the carb.

At first I used the original Jeep carburetor, With all the smog and choke junk stripped off. Now I have a single barrel carburetor out a 1967 Chevy nova.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

thinking bout painting the jeep?

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

240' of water, helium/oxy mixed gas diving. Unfortunately I don't get to do the diving, I just oversee the operations. Anyway, 30 minutes bottom time followed by 2 hours of decompression stops doesn't look terribly fun.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Would it pass emissions with all the smog stuff off though? I don't want to do the swap and still fail because I don't have the air pump hooked up still.

I do not think my jeep would get any were near passing an emissions test.:scottm:
Lucky for me I do not live in an area that requires a test. When I go in to get my inspection sticker they do not even lift the hood. All they really check is that I have insurance and all the lights work.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

I started the painting on my XJ.... Still have a little bit of Bondo to do but I wanted to start the color just to see what its like. I will post pictures a little later.

Yano, between all the F Bodies, Troopers, S10's, and XJ's that have done this swap, SOMEONE could tell me if I have to use that damn air pump still LOL!!!! hasta

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Drove it to the airport at 5:15am. It'll be there until I come back on Wednesday... if I can make it back on Wednesday. I've been in houston airport for the past 7 hours.

As far as I know the air pump is needed to keep the cat breathing right. So if you are in an area that requires a smog check, to keep it legal yes you would need to keep the air pump and all the other emissions control stuff. With the exception of the flywheel and the fuel pump the 3.4L is externally the same as 2.8L. Here is a link to the information I used to do my swap. http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Project_XJ/Project_XJ.htm

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

I got my "SOLID" one when they were on sale a ways back. It was only like 65.00 shipped. I could not pass that up...

now I need to find one on a deal like that for my 8.25

Yeah, the price has gone up on the RuffStuff covers. I think I got both of mine shipped for like $150.
