What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Are nut strips necessary? The hitch came with some rectangles of metal (about 3" long) that the bolts go through...

You got a "universal" hitch. It's not too hard to do. I have one myself and did it by myself... took about 2 hours total.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

I ran it with no problems. It works off the same ideas... just reversed.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

i got my LCA's installed today mad a big difference moved my axle forward about 1" to 1.5" now i have more clearance not to mention alot better caster angle. maybe will also help with death wobble. 6" lift stock control arms not the best idea

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

i wouldnt advise it, the nut strip displaces the load exerted on the hitch on a much bigger surface. or in other words it makes it much harder to rip off your jeep.

No I believe what is talking about is the same principle. It is a flat piece of metal that goes inside the frame rails, that has square holes through it, that hold carriage bolts in place from the top side. Then the hitch mounts below the frame, and the nuts go on the bottom. That is how mine is setup as well.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

When I put the universal hitch on the old '86 I had a few problems with holes not lining up and the load spreadering square washer thingies not fitting inside the "frame rails." I also had a problem with the fuel filler neck being in the way. All of which were semi-easily remedied.

When I took the receiver off and moved it to DangerGirl's rig (a '91), I had ZERO issues and it bolted right up in a matter of minutes.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Left for work this morning... pulled out and my back hatch came open... the only thing I didn't lock last night. But once again... nothing stolen.

When I catch those people. I know they will come back.... they have twice now and not taken anything.

I will tell you later.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

In college we had a problem with people ripping off peoples license plates, and mine got torn off twice. When I replaced it the second time I put double sided tape with razor blades lining the back edge. It got ripped off one more time, and I found a huge puddle of blood under the truck. No one else ever had their plate torn off again.
