What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Oh no I was not talking about you... I was talking to Swamp.

But you put a torch to the bolt itself?

Tightening it first... ok I can see that but the impact has too much torque to "softly" remove those bolts.

It seems like heat drives in lubricant and breaks things free, I've had it work before. As far as the impact, I turn the air pressure down and put the wrench on the lowest power setting. But hey, sometimes nothing works and it's easier to break out the hammer.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Yeah but heat makes things expand also... thats where I see a problem.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Napa has this stuff now called Freeze out, and its like liquid nitrogen or something mixed with penetrating oil in a spray can. It will freeze whatever you spray it on, and let the penetrating oil get down in there. Haven't tried it yet, but got some good reviews from people i know.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

that mod is SOOOOOO easy, you'll be done in no time, and so pleased to have it. I almost forgotten I had done that while i was doing my JY lift

I had to skip the BPE mod because the rear shocks would have been too long without that extra 1.5" of extension. My rear springs are sagging so much that my "1.5 inch lift" is probably more like factory level at best. It was pretty easy to get the new shocks bolted in using a really thin open ended tappet wrench. The new shocks (RC 8000s) are worlds better than the old ones even if they're not the greatest shocks ever.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Got my leaf springs, just waiting for the ubolts and bushings to get here.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

I ordered some anti-wrap spring perches and u-bolt plates for my 8.8 swap. Now I just have to cut the old ones off.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Well the hood now latches on the jeep I got from Ian, and it's 4wd again too! Now if I could only get that damned Rusty's adjustable trac bar to adjust. It's siezed up, even though there is zero rust anywhere on it.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

The coolant leak was located. Looks like it's coming from the lower passenger side seam between the plastic and metal.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

IIRC, That was Flores' track bar that was stripped out and they had to do a roadside "repair" when MM's track bar broke. So that might be the problem.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

Got the axle and rear springs in.

Curious but why pull the shafts? How'd the install go?

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today?

I managed to remove the torn up front cross member out of my MJ, and pound it back near to correct shape, does anybody have an old rig they'd be willing to sawzall the crossmember out of and send to me?
pm if so
