What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

i started replacing my valve cover gasket before meeting with a possible buyer for my jeep. got all the way to the very back bolt and gave up. there is no freaking way possibly to change the valve cover gasket with out pulling the motor!

I use a wobbler ended extension and 1/4 drive set. Is the MJ different from the XJ?

Swamp's got an XJ, but either way, should be the same

87 and 89, done 3 times, no problem, even pulled the head on 89 without pulling the engine, but that takes a few cool tricks to pull off

:read:

Pulled the head off of my 95 in place, that was fun. In other news i replaced the stuck open 180° thermostat with a195° murry t stat

Ill probably just get a wobble extension, I dont have on

Wobbler extension set, 1" to 12" is one of the best investments I ever made.

Bought transmission for 4wd swap

A weeks worth of battery recovery testing wasted, shot, kaput, !!!1

all because I did not tell my fully grown kids not to eat the daisies.

so you traded your Jeep for an old Subie? Does it work? Is your g/f gonna drive that?

Walmart lied to me, they did NOT have the battery they said they had, in stock. :puke:

So I went shopping again, and got a great deal on a SEARS Diehard, with a 6 year warranty, plus 10% off (just for asking:yelclap:, LOL). Cleaned up and replaced the cables with new, larger cables (from 4 to 2 gauge) and got the white, new to me 89 XJ, 4WD running!!!!

The brake work we did 2 wekends ago got the brakes working for now, but it needs new rotors to get back to great brakes. Brake booster is still good, that was good news!!! We had replaced the master cylinder but needed a new battery to test the booster.

The engine runs like a new engine. I stole this jeep for just $500!!! I was due for a deal, LOL, paid way too much for my first 2 jeeps.

Head light switch is touchy on dash lights, so it needs the usual workover. Does anyone make a head light switch for jeeps that is not a POS?

Many parts of this jeep feel and look new, like the interior, while the rocker panels have very bad terminal rust. AC probably needs a complete upgrade, all new parts, but that can wait.

I got a huge surprise this morning. After just 14 hours on a little Harbor freight $6 trickle/float battery charger, the blue 89 XJ, 2WD, cranked like it had a new battery!!!! And fired right up. I was shocked. At best I was expecting it to try to turn over once and quite, and need 2 more days of trickle charging.

Yes, not at the moment, have to replace the head gaskets, shes has been driving her corolla since I put an axle in

I traded with one of my friends, the subaru was his only car and he needed something to drive to work. And I wanted practice with subaru engine swaps. Before I drop the turbo engine im building im my impreza. So im going to freshen up the gl's engine, drop it back in and daily drive it while im doing all the technical stuff with my turbo swap on the impreza.

Then afterwards I might try and slap a devorced tcase, some leaf springs, and solid axles under the gl.

Tore down the D30 today other than the knuckles. Went to Pick N Pull should have brought more than just my little tool set. Found a V8 ZJ with a good tie rod I was trying to grab, but couldn't get the TRE's off without a puller or a BFH.
