What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

Did this a while back and never posted it so....

Replaced
Clockspring
replaced temp sensor
installed a HUGE 130 AMP alternator. Serious bracket modification on that one
Washed the jeep, polished up the rims a little (they were horrible)
Picked up a new rear axle with 4.56s installed (now I need to find a carrier or a front axle with 4.56s installed already.)

The last remaining items on the XJ:
get rid of the cancer problem, replace leaking freeze plug, find out why CB doesn't work, replace destroyed fiberglass antenna, cut and fold corners, and then start saving for a locker.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

made and installed some rear fender flares...

they are not too bad considering they made from garden edging

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

Replaced evaporator core, discovered seventh level of hell in the process.

Dissassemble (last week)

hunt for parts (today)

Remove rest of dash
remove "airbox" (burn hand)
disassemble airbox
spot leak
replace core
attempt to replace heater core, new one doesnt fit
reassemble box
attempt to put box together box doesn't feel right
dissassemble box
reassemble box
re-install box
drop nut behind engine head
drop another nut behind engine head
burn hands retrieving nuts
drink beer
reconnect water and AC lines
vacuum down system.. it holds
Reinstall dash
undo bolts for airbag frame
install airbag frame
realize that it will be easier to bolt airbag to airbag frame with frame out
uninstall airbag frame
bolt airbag to frame
bolt in airbag frame
realize that the last bolt wont go in because one bolt was supposed to go through the dash
uninstall airbag frame
undo bolt and reinstall airbag frame
put dash in
decide to charge and test system
fan doesn't work
uninstall dash
check all dash electrical connections
check all fuses
pull fan out
fan works on high only now, is rubbing something when installed
remove air box
disassemble airbox
reassemble airbox
fan works when installed
install airbox, burn and cut hands.
reconnect ac lines
reconnect heater core line (singular...for some reason)
pull vacuum on system (it holds)
begin dash reassembly
decide to charge system, start jeep and dump antifreeze all over garage.
reconnect second heater core line.
refill coolant system
start jeep.
run first can of freon into system. everything going well until HISSSSSSSS
wtf, accumulator connection is coming disconnected, must not have snapped on fully. Stand on wall and push to hear click, let go and WHOOSH glow in the dark leak finder schtuff blows all over the place.
shut jeep down
throw can of freon, break filler hose.
find spring that had fallen out of accumulator connector, apparently the click was something else.
reconnect all ac lines, pull vacuum.
reassemble drivers side of dash, remove skin from knuckles.
return to Autozone, return vac pump, gauges, buy hose and freon.
it works. the center console and glove box still remain to be installed. Fark it, I'm having a beer.

Re: What was done to YOUR rig today MECHANICALY????

Oh forgot to mention. I'm in Houston, so i was pretty hot, and I was cursing progressively louder with each subsequent "find something wrong, disassemble" and cut or burn.
