hey there , well i just got done my 44/9 build and i am running a bds long arm set up and noticed all the poly bushings are worn out and the jonny joints on the top links at the frame end are also worn out . so i called bds and they said it shouldent be worn out by now (1 yr hwy driving) and they said i should only grease anything with a poly bushing with pure silicone grease . so my question is do u guys ???, if not what do u use and how long are your poly bushings and jonny joints holding up ??. i amusing jonny joints on both ends of my track bar and i really dont want them wearing out cause of a grease issue thx guys

yes, super tack synthetic, its the stuff that is used for front axle spindle and 4x hub bearings, it costs about $20 per tube, but u dont need much, and mine have lasted 2.5 years. no squeak either. as for J.Joints, ?? dont they use teflon, theyre probably damaged by petroleum too, but i figure you could probably use veg. oil and itd be better than running them dry, check curies website to see if they have info on lubes to use.

full synthetic grease has some petro in it , well thats what i have been told here , i just cant find a brand of thos silicone greae or where to get it in canada lol

thats some kool stuff , but it does come from petroleum , now i am no expert trust me lol but bds specifically said only pure silicone grease , i am thinking like di electric grease used for electonicv conections ????

if you look on the FAQ are about it it says it is lith/silicone based and contains no abrasives. it might contain a small amount i do not know, and i am not a sales rep, but i do know, this does not destroy uerthane bushing like standard grease and it stops the sqeaks, and it stays where you put it, wear gloves if your wise.

well i had no ideah grease had abrasives in it lol learn somthin new every day hehe , so would this lith/silicone based lube be better for coventional stuff like tre's and balll joints??

hmm got me thinkin now if my front long arm bushings are gone i wonder if my shackle and spring bushings are a shot now too , who would have thought that using regular quaker state grease would have destroyed everything grrrrrrrrrr, and yyyyyyy dont they mark this on the bushing some where . i have never heard of speciall grease to use at all ever .

i definately agree when conventional supplies ruin something, the makers of such thing have a clear and serious obligation to inform the public of the proper material.
something more then a quip in the owners manual

there was no such information in any of my lift kit manuals or instructions to use a special grease , it only says to grease well when putting together , thats it . grrr

the best grease you can have in your greaseable parts is CLEAN GREASE.

granted if you go and spend hundreds of dollars on the worlds most hi-tech grease, it won't have to be replaced as soon as the cheaper stuff. but even that stuff will deteriorate or empty out over time.

so the maintenance is more important than which grease.

i use red multipurpose chasis grease. the reason i only use red is because that way i can see when the old grease is out and the new grease is in.

so i did an investigation and it seems, the recommended lube in order:

1:slick 50
2:antiseize
3:moly graphite wheel bearing grease

but ill still say, the stuff i use works too, even if it isnt on this list. antiseize, i suppose if you do a lot of driving in the water, wont be bothered as much by that. but the vehicle i used it on mostly sees dry weather.

yeah my jeep has greasable everything and it gets greased every month , this jeep goes thru everthing really , i am in northern canada so it sees 40 above and 40 below , water, dry , everything lol i have never had a squeek with these poly bushings but a year of regular driving shouldent make them pooched i hope

but you say you used regular lube and the guy from bds said not to do that. idk, now that ive looked a little closer, this sounds like a warranty claim between you and them. id rather not get involved.

oh no no warrenty claims fer me , i ordered all new stuff , i just didnt want to do it again to the new stuff lol , and it seems all my stuff that needs greasing has poly bushings . i live in canada and it takes me a month or longer to get this stuff up here , so if at all possible i want it to last a lonnng time

Regular grease won't hurt polyurethane bushings. The reason they specify silicone grease is because it lasts longer. Regular grease squishes out in short time, while the silicone stuff sticks to the poly better. The grease that came with my poly control arm bushings was a thick silicone type, just like silicone brake lube (which you can buy in Canada at Lordco, Canadian Tire or Napa) and dielectric grease. It worked for a while. The control arm bushings now squeak on every bump. I don't recommend poly control arm bushings- I don't like the harshness and noise.
