What tire/wheel/terrain broke your D30?

i dont even have to watch videos of people with anything larger than 35s on a 30 to know its not run hard. a tire barking on west coast grip tape rocks and looking for traction kinda wheeling is not the same as east coast rev limiter melt rubber through moss axle bouncing up and down trying to find anything remotely resembling traction kinda wheeling.

competitions aside; east coast wheeling is a lot harder on a rig that west coast wheeling. i was more nervous about driving my jeep home while wheeling in the woods of PA than i ever was while wheeling in CA, NM, AZ, UT, CO... and i was on the other side of the country.

as soon as someone yells no balls. you have to do one of the following within the next 10 seconds: hit rev limiter, roll your rig, complete the obstacle without issue, or punch out ross's gay taillights. If you fail to do any of those things you are deemed a pansy and nobody will be your friend anymore.

i wheeled back east on a d28 and ford 7.5 and never broke anything, as hard as i tried lol
i think that's where i adapted my "moar speed" technique. see hill/rocks. point truck. foot to floor.

No we have to deal with Ross spotting, or disobeying the "no balls" rule.

:D

I was smart I sold my 30 before I kept breaking it.

ive been running 37's onmy stock 30.... and i mean stock... axles, gears, everything is still stock...never broking a shaft yet on this setup... 37-13.50/17s toyo open countrys even which weight as much as a 42 inch mtr...and i wheel this thing hard!

While I'm not here to bash you or argue against you, I will say this.

"wheeing things hard" is a relative term. There is only so much you can do in terms of terrain with open axles and stock gears, regardless of tire size. Once you get lockers, gears, etc, you naturally start getting into harder situations. What I thought was "hard" wheeling when I was on 32's and open axles, I know consider an easy trail ride and relatively boring. Not saying you don't wheel hard, just saying that its a relative term.

I will agree with you on the Toyos being heavy bastards though. I would despise having to try to put those back on after taking them off.

Ross purposely spots you into rocks and trees, because he is not aware you are supposed to avoid them.

Hmm, sounds like punching out taillights would be the most cost effective for me
Get Ross drunk, and he will kick out his own tail light for you. :D

LP D30 in my TJ Lockright Locker, 33x12.50 TSL Radials Rocks, Broke the Ears off the Inner and outter stubs when the U joint failed , Same thing happened with 35" MTR's

everything went well till the rearend was trying to climb while the front was heading up the next rock... not much the spotter could do, I blame the driver and whoever peer pressured Mark into trying that obstacle :spin1:

That was EPIC! Sadly, that whole area looked CAKE!
that one obstacle kinda sits in the middle of the woods with nothing hard to do around it for a ways. The funny thing is that no one has gone through it (yet, to the best of my knowledge) without some bad body damage. It's just wide enough that at least one tire usually slides off and suddenly one of the rocks is in your door.

Rob will have no problem whatsoever with it.
