OK i have an 86 xj and right now it's bone stock. i'm going to go pick up a set of 31" thornbirds tomorrow but i am having trouble deciding what lift to buy. I'm want around a 4 1/2" kit that comes with everything and full rear springs not add a leafs. i was thinking of going with OME but their are cheaper kits out there and i just don't know what do you guys think? :dunno::dunno::dunno:

You could go with the RC 4.5" long arm lift.

I have the RC 3" kit and I am happy...

either way if you plan to run 4.5" consider doing a 3" rear spring and a shackle that is 3" longer than stock, you will end up with 4.5" lift BUT it will be VERY flexy

RE is down for restructuring to check how things have been. But I don't know if they're doors will open again.
Don't know where I'm going to get bushings for my longarms now?

This is what scares me most about doing mods like lifts.
5-10 years down the road, you'll need parts.
Will they be available?

I guess one could always buy a full set of 'spares' like bushings, but then when you have everything you think could wear out or break in a set of spares, you break something you did not buy and cannot get. It's a risk.

If that happens, you will probably end up putting in another lift kit altogether.

How long have you had it for and how has the ride been? Did you get their shocks?

it was used when I got it... there was a receipt in the center console of the XJ I pulled it out of that said it was around 3 years old...

I have had it installed for one month, it rides pretty well, not rough like many people claim... a little firm tough, hard to complain for the price

well i ordered the RE 3.5" complete kit the last one available from what i understand. should be here in about a week and a half since they had to ship it from a store in Ohio. Got my thornbirds yesterday 5 of em. one brand new and four at about 80% so a pretty good deal IMO.
