What kind of brew?

for you eastern PA'ers....Lionshead. By the Lion brewing company out of the poconos. It's about 11 bucks for 24 bottles, and really is a great tasting beer. I am not one for cheap beer as one person stated before, but this does not taste like cheap stuff. I hate the football beers...coors, miller, bud etc. _nicko_

Regular old Budweiser if I'm drinking more than a few.
Leinie's Creamy Dark If I'm in WI and only want one or two

I'm no beer expert- I'll drink just about anything other than Miller Lite or Guiness.

Had some Amish? stuff from Iowa once- can't remember the name.

im too young to drink but i here coors light, goldshalger (however its spelled), and 151 are good.

There are less painful ways to get drunk than drinking straight Bacardi 151, although it is fun to light on fire :flame:

If I'm drinking hard stuff, it's whatever the guy buying it for me specifies.

Oh, wow, what beer do I like? This might take a while.

As far as "name brands" are concerned heres just a few off the top of my head heineken, guiness, fat tire, sam adams, pilsner urquell, tecate, pacifico, XX, moosehead, red hook ESB, and even Fosters which nobody seems to like. When I want something "cheap" I get Miller Genuine Draft, just bought a 20-pack for $10, thats almost as good as natty ice but much better taste.

It would be more productive to list what I don't like and assume I like everything else- I don't really like light beers at all, also ales or pale ales, I don't drink any beer that tastes like it sat around a long time (Corona, high life). A lot of my friends like Hefenweizen wheat, I just tried it the other night but diddn't like it.

Basically, I like "lagers" or pilsners that are smooth and crisp and flavorful, and dark beers like yer black and tan stuff. Basically I like beverages that have strong flavor.

Oh, 8mud- have you tried San Miguel Dark as well? Hard to find yes, but the extra formaldehyde makes it that much better.

Over here they drink a lot of Dark Beers (especially in the late fall or winter), you walk inside a Gasthaus form being outside in the cold (like -10) for a couple hours or so and tell the waitress you want a warm Dark Beer. You get one about shower temperature and in like 2 minutes you get an alcohol rush that raises your body temperature about 10 degrees, you often hallucinate and your rear end kind of molds itself to the seat, any further coordinated movement is impossible.
In Germany, some of the best Beers are brewed by happy groups of Jolly Monks.

If you want some good beer, come to Oregon... We have around 25 microbreweries/brewpubs just in Portland, so i could go on for a while :D...

My current favorite has got to be just about any Rogue brew. Imperial India Pale ale, Shakespear stout (on Nitro), Mocha Porter and Dead Guy are on the top of my list.

Thats cool to hear what everybody likes. To be honest, I've never even heard of some of that stuff, like FatTire, Trout river, Sierra Nevada, etc...

I guess I should've specified bottles, cans, or whatever-I-can-get-my-hands-on. For me it's usually bottles, unless the particular establishment that I'm at has something I like on tap. I can't drink beer out of cans, nothing tastes right from a can.

So, my 2 favorites are:

and
millerLiteBottle.jpg

I also like, in no particular order:
CoorsOriginal_12ozBottle.jpg
SmAdams.jpg
and

Where do I start.....

And that's an old picture. It changes every chance I get to get beer that's not from Utah.

John's Oatmeal Stout was very tasty, and his "Scott Free" Ale got me started in this whole thing.

My latest ESB is pretty tasty. Cold/Dry hopping is the bomb. I think I'm hanging up the attempts on a good Hefe until my system is in better shape, that and until I can culture my own yeast.

Pyamid Hefe is good, so was the SeanR supplied bottles. Help me out here Sean, I forgot the name of the brewery in WI...

Pyramid makes good chit.

John makes great brew too.

Leinenkugels???

I usually prefer my own homebrew, but my favorite micro is anything Bells, also known as Kalamazoo brewing.

Culturing your own yeast is a PITA, I did it for a few years. I can pull off of a bottle and it is easy, but working custom strains just took too much farking time.

As for a good hefe I use a little more wheat malt than two row (or munich if I'm feeling it) 60-40, and a belgian White Labs yeast and it comes out great. My mash is very low and stepped up to sparge; I usually mash this beer overnight. If I really want a more wit style I dust the kettle with clove and a touch of corriander.

I've brewed for years and now primarily brew and drink Belgians.

Store bought:

Delerium Tremmins
Duvel (the king of Belgian blondes)
Chimay white label
Wilbrau Urbock
Russian River's Strong Golden

Brewed:

Belgian goldens with spice hovering above 10%
Wit beers in the 8% range
Light bocks also in the 8% area
Tripples well above the rest

Life starts after 60... 1.060 that is!
