What is/was the least fun thing u had to do building your jeep?

Making a hole into my fender for the snorkel... I come from driving and modding bimmers to this and let me tell you that's the worse I've ha to do hahaha
 
Reaching into the tiny hole behind the rear bumper to remove the hardware for my hitch so I can install my gas tank skid.
 
Yanking the axles out of a MJ, swapping them with the stockers in the XJ. and then working past midnight to put the XJ's axles in the MJ just so it could roll onto a trailer for the guy who was going to buy it. That was no fun.

Hey, I never mentioned any names and, it's the least fun I've ever had! It'll become the funnest day ever, once you come pick it up.

Did you have to moce the mj rears perches for your xj? Bout to do the same.
 
The XJ springs are wider than the mj. The Ford 8.8 that went in the jeep had perches that were about a half inch narrower on each side. They went into the XJ with just a little bit of work. They work pretty good as is. I really need to widen the perches and I will eventually but it's not keeping it off the road. They XJ springs went under the MJ pretty easy but if you look it from the rear the springs are pushed pretty wide. I didn't really care since the thing only had to roll onto a trailer.
 
Favorite thing I've done so far: Lift it. I may have gone through 3 different sets of springs/spacer/leaf combos, but live and learn!

Least favorite thing: All the small crap; brakelines, hackntap (+tcase rebuild), bumpstops, shocks, etc.

Ive enjoyed working on my Jeep for the better part of owning it, but this last year has just been pain after pain after pain. All this work so far and I still am not comfortable wheeling it due to all the small crap I need to finish up.

Yea, they measure an inch wider on each side. Sucks cuz mine has ube's, and it gonna be a pita to salvage them and move them a friggin inch!
 
Maybe when I set myself on fire welding on plates where I frenched the leafs into the frame. Or when my Hi lift jack unloaded and the handle cracked me in the head full force. Or when my leaf unloaded on me and ripped off part of my finger. I guess the common theme is clumsy fabricator.
 
Or maybe the least fun thing I ever did was get expanding foam all over my hands... I was stuffing pool noodles into my fenders to stop mud and dirt from getting to the door hinges and such and moronically assumed it would clean off if I did it quick... my hands were covered in foam for two weeks, and all the cuts I got from scraping the crap off was fun too. It was even better having to explain to customers who thought my hands had an infection or something at work.
 
Remove the leaf springs to put on new ones. The bolt broke off in the middle of the spring, no way to get it out except get the grinder to the mount and start cutting until it was free. Removing the other side of the bolt was just as fun. The weld broke loose on the nut inside the frame rail pocket that is not accessible. again had to get the grinder after it and cut it out. Poor design. I'm sure some of you have seen this happen. I was stoked getting my rig lifted but this issue really gave me ED! if you know what I mean!
 
I broke the captured nut on the shackle side of my leaf when I installed my old RE lift. I cut a pocket in the end of the frame (behind the bumper mount) to get it out, and then hold a new one in there so it could be welded. It took longer to install the leafs than it did to install the coils, arms and trackbar.
 
I had the starter wires go "missing" when replacing a oil pan gasket on the 88xj. It turns out my helper just got new dosages on his perscriptions and it had some side effects. So, while i was underneath and he was upstairs helping keep the wiring out of the way he would miss, or could not see the solenoid wire and it would get left in the pan.

We did this three times. What is that commandment of not killing...
