SO I am a bit of a ADD type guy and I go out camping (not just off roading) at least once a month up to a camp ground where I have grown to know a few different familys. The only time I see them is at the camp ground and its a few times a year.

Well I have always prided my self on two things. My selection of flashlights for night walks and catching frogs, and my R/C cars...

Well my last purchase was a few years ago and I bought both a Coast flashlight, which I thought was pretty awesome at the time, and was brighter then any others at the time. Then I went on to get the Ryobi HID handheld spot. It too was amazing at the time, at least to me. It is basically a H3 HID bulb with a full 12V ballast etc. Just like a head light.

NOW though. I havent upgraded in some time and I have been out matched by two dad's...

they both bought the streamlight Stonger DS with I think about 640 Lumen.

Well I been looking and the one I am thinking at this point about picking up is the FENIX TK75. Its rated at something Crazy like 2900 Lumen. I have a budget of about 200$(give or take depending on with batterys or not).

It looks kinda big, but at 6'5" and 300lbs it seems ok for my size I guess. Smaller then the Ryobi at least...

What have you owned and what do you think it the brightest flashlight out there that is still handheld and under say 250$? And then whats the brightest period?

i've got a 1200 lumen LED flashlight that uses rechargeable batteries, it's bright as all hell and has a low, high, and strobe mode. cost me about 30 bucks. it's chinese but its all aluminum and i've dropped it and banged it up and it seems to be made pretty decent.

check out the led torches on www.dealextreme.com

mine is this one but in black http://dx.com/p/ultrafire-kf-t60-ha...ite-led-flashlight-with-strap-1-x-18650-57003

they have some really nice ones that are a bit pricey for my taste but it sounds like they're right in your range. you're welcome to check mine out to see the quality some time if you'd like.

I have the Fenix TK41 - the TK75's little brother. It's cool. My current go to though is a Streamlight Night Com UV, it's small enough to fit in a holster for an old Surefire P6, bright enough to use for underhood or under car work, and has decent UV leds so I don't need a separate UV light for leak detection.

If you head over to candlepowerforums you'll discover a whole world of geekery. But TK75 is well respected, although they have a problem with condensation apparently. I think that one uses 18650s so if you get it make sure you get good protected cells and a quality charger.

I have a Fenix TK15, and I picked up a Fenix TK35 for my Mom. I'm very impressed with Fenix's products. Hands down the brightest flashlights I have seen or operated. The TK15 and TK35 are lower on the scale of brightness compared to other Fenix lights and lights made by other manufacturers, but Fenix has some lights that exceed 2000 Lumens! When I can convince my fiancé to spend $200 on one, I will own the brightest. :firedevil

I also have a Fenix TK41, one of the best flashlights I have owned. The beam is nicely focused and doesnt have a crazy spread at long distances, well worth the money and I get compliments on it all the time.

Well I ordered and got today the TK75. Overall impression is well worth the $ if you want Bright. Not to big and looks like you can add battery modules to gain duration between charging. Will get one or two of those too now.

BUT,
I did just see this.. :confused1

http://www.amazon.com/Nitecore-TM26-Batteries-Rechargeable-FlashLight/dp/B00BG4B9SG

Has a built in charger, digital display for many related stat's, and with batterys. Works out to be about the same $ but cant extend the battery case to 2 or 3 times the stock capacity like the TK75.

Now to charge 8 battery's that I am reading takes about 6-8 hours

let me dig around it was on sale when i posted the link the first time, i'll PM you if i find a better price.
