What do you do for a living?

Used to manage a diesel bus repair shop for the San Francisco Muni (transit system), but since 9/12/01 have been recalled to the US Coast Guard.

As you can guess I'm a Network Engineer....surprise surprise...BUT I used to do tech support and got burned out, worked at blockbuster and learned to hate people, and worked as an admin assistant to a geek (learned to hate people more).

It's odd how someone will argue with you about a $3.00 overdue fee on 1 movie, but the guy with $45.00 in overdue fees on 6 films just happily pays his fees.

Skor 'glad i'm not in customer service anymore' pyo

Computer Programmer. We write software to collect Patient data and bill for Homecare organizations - Home Health, Hospice, etc.

As my profile says, professional geek.

I handle all things computer for a corporate real estate firm of around 100 people spanning across four southwestern states.

In our corporate office here in Downtown Los Angeles I handle all computers, telephones, televisions, and anything else with wires in it...oh...I also have to put the water bottle on the water cooler.

In the past I've been a laser & inkjet printer onsite repair tech and worked retail.

I learned to hate retail & on-site service as well!

I co-own/manage my own little car lot here in central florida. I am the service dept. complaint dept. parts dept. and general garage bitch. I also wash cars (not in a cheerleader out fit though) and change the water cooler bottle in the office too. Dropped out of the Univ. of Florida where I was a senior in business admin to start our business. My wife is the office manager/boss, she's a new yorker and can communicate effectively with our clientel. (Like people who dont change their oil for 27,824 miles.) I keep trying to sleep my way to the top. The sexual harassment at work resulted in two kids in 3 years. Hmmmmm....

i have been running the inventory control dept for 7 years now in a large conveinience store/food service distributor.. we count snickers bars and marlboros and anything else you can think of all day.. before this i spent 8 years running search and rescue in the U.S. coast Guard.....

I am a Service Technician for one of the largest construction companies in new england. We specialize in major projects like bridges and reconstruction. Basically I fix all the small stuff, compressors, generators, welders, etc. I also am a full time college student working towards my BS in History so I can someday um... have a degree. I am also working getting my little beer making outfit up and going so it can stop costing so much and starking making me some $. If all goes well someday you may see my XJ summer Brew, that will only be availble in 22oz bottles, because noone likes a tiny XJ?

Moto, there are a few homebrewers here at naxja including myself, if you ever have any questions about it, submit a new post!

Just like the jeep, its easy to fall into traps and make mistakes and waste money. But with beer, not only do you waste money, YOU WASTE THE BEER, and that's a serious matter! I've wasted a few batches when I was learning, and I'm still sad about it!

Beezil, sorry to hear about your losses, so far I have seem to have had good luck and only had one batch go bad, tasted good but didn't like to stay in its bottle, a little too much carbonation.

i'm the shop-foreman at a dodge dealer, an ase mastertech. diamlerchrysler certified gold(4 diamonds in my ring) technician, viper convertible certified phase 1 (phase 2 scheduled)
translation: i turn wrenches.

I'm a scientist for the State of California. By this description, you might imagine that I actually study stuff to try and ascertain new and interesting data.

Unfortunately, you'd be mistaken.

What I actually do is take a bunch of data from disparate sources, meld it together, massage it, put a nice spin on it, and then make policy recommendations to various state boards and the legislature. Then my agency gets sued and I am forced to spend a lot of time defending my conclusions in court. Happy day! Not. :(

All of my dealings are with fisheries and water resources, the latter of which is in very short supply in California.

CRASH.....swimming in the public trough.
