What do you all run in the 231?

I run Mobil1, but it's becoming a PITA to find. Every place I go to carries the gear oils and engine oils but not Mobil1ATF. Anyways, I'm slowly considering swithching to some other synthetic atf or a synthetic blend... so what do you all run and how do you like it?

I just put Amsoil Universal ATF in mine, but that's probably harder to get than Mobil 1. AFAIK the Autozone near me carries Mobil 1 ATF.

I was told buy a reliable Jeep builder that the reason Jeeps run hydraulic fluid in the tcases, is for the jeeps that never put go into 4WD. Actually a lightweight oil of the same viscosity as ATF would be better.

I talked to George at TCU and he told me to put Amsoil 5w-30 in it. That's quite a bit thicker than ATF. Maybe a 5w-20 or 0w-20 would be a nice compromise. I am not second guessing George, he knows much more about it than I do, but 30 weight does seem a little thick.

That were I thought I got mine, but I visited two different kragens and two different auto zones and neither one of them carries mobil1 atf anymore.... Anyways, going to try a pepboys today.

I use a 50-50 mix of atf and 10w30. 245k miles and going strong
