Started cleaning up a Dana 30 to replace the one under the jeep and noticed a small pinhole in the diff housing :/ I can patch it but it made me a little sad

Anyone see this before? I searched around but nothing came up.

That looks deliberately drilled in there. You could seal it with a tac weld, just preheat to about 400°f before. It almost looks like a pilot hole for some kind of locker. Or someone being lazy trying to fix a ventilation issue.

That's just water. I hadn't seen the hole until I cleaned all the gunk off and hosed it down. I'll decide what needs to be done once I start really tearing it apart.

It was a productive day. I'm glad to be wrenching on the Jeep again - I was putting this stuff off for a long time.

Super huge massive project happened yesterday. Was able to barely complete it in between rain drops. Speedometer gear change. I think start to finish was about 8 minutes and thats only because i changed out the o-ring as well.

While I was at work on Saturday and Sunday, my son moved forward on installing new shocks on the Jeep. So proud of him!

With 29" tires I've been enjoying 18mpg-19mpg and having my 4th gear back lol

Put a bigger notch in my zj skid tank; on my XJ retrofit, for the rear exhaust hanger clamp to the exhaust. Its crazy how much stainless moves! My whole exhaust easily moves back 1" once at operating temperature.

In the last Month & In Order of Installation/Replacement ...New Front Calipers & Pads, New Rear Drums & Shoes (Even Painted the Drums Red), Re-Painted the Rear Wheels (Still Gotta Re-Paint the Fronts), Complete Brake System Flush & Bleed (1st Time in many, Many Years), New Water Pump, Heater Valve Delete & Complete Coolant System Flush & New Antifreeze, New Fan Shroud, New Front Tires, New Tranny Cooler, & Yesterday, New Rear Hatch Seal, 2 New Rear Hatch Lifts.
In the Last 3 Months: Complete Tune Up: New Dist. Cap & Rotor (Brass Contacts), Oil & Filter Change w/ HyperLube & Lucas, New Copper Plugs & New Fuel Filter.

In the last 6 months, I have also Replaced: 2nd Alternator w/ 3rd (200Amp!), New Power Steering Pump & 2 New Serpentine Belts (Due to PSP & Alt Failures).

Yep, JEEP (Just Empty Every Pocket)!!!
