What did you do to your XJ today

The biggest pain in the ass with a rear main is the oil pan gasket alignment. Good to have another set of hands to put it back together. Also be extra careful when gently tapping the old upper half/new upper half of the rear main seal in place. That bearing surface and channel is not something you want to mar up!

Yea i was going to use something plastic, or maybe try a wooden skewer for shish-ka-bobs, or something like that.
All I need is to expose an inch or so of it, and can grab it with some pliers and pull it out the rest of the way..... or so I've read.
 
Can you do mine when your done Josh? I read up on this about 3 or 4 years back, almost as long as I've had the parts to fix it. I told myself next time I change the oil I'm going to tackle this project, it never ever happend. Now I'm unsure the last time my oil was changed, I'm sure it's due now.
 
Yea as soon as I actually get around to it, i'd be happy to help you out.
Maybe we can have a Rear-Main-Party.... knock them both out in one day.
....we'll have to flip a coin to see who's rig will be the guinea pig.

yup it was a little work to get things strightened out (only about 1 1/2 months) but should be here in 7-10 business days. thanks to the naxja guys and all the help I have gotten making this happen. and thanks to our donators who gave up such a great prize. I still have a few mor prizes to use, you know it just takes money. I am still lookong for that money tree,but I think some one already cut it down.

Yes, I know the AK sticker is bigger, I'll probably replace it when I add another state to the list. I feel like Nevada probably tops the list, though it could be Idaho or possibly Montana, Wyoming or Utah if I feel like pushing it.
 
Got my links adjusted. tomorrow I'll get the track bar welded in. and get another wheel done. I'm going to have to redrill the cross member because the front yoke runs on the upper link bolt
 
I had the same problem Ben when I installed my Dana 44, only because we didnt follow T&T pinion angle, we set it where it needed to be for the lift. I cut the brackets off the long arm on the drivers side, and Dave made some new ones, I just welded them on further back. It still rubs the yolk, but at least its not trying to rip it off now.

so I have been working on getting the wheels on the jeep and Im not really impressed with the quality of product for the money I spent. ya they included extra bolt inserts but I didnt expect to have to put 3 into one wheel cuse they wernt there. I also have been having to chase some of the bolt holes cuse they have paint in them. and last but mabe the most important theres LOTS of sharp edges/cutting slag that will cut your fingers. other than that they should be on the xj by thursday for the weekend run to houser, for a run an trail mantnance project. Other than thoes little issues I guess you could say Im happy with them.
 
Windex'd the inside of my windshield. I drive right into the sunrise to work, and into the sunset coming home. Almost killed some ignorant pedestrian in the middle of the road last week.
 
Got the nasty carpet out of the cargo area and under the seat. Couldn't figure out why the car smelled after cleaning everything. I looked under the back seat today to run wires and found 15 years worth of Jolly Rancher, Coke, and McDonald's residue. Needless to say, a utility knife and some bleach took care of the mold and neglect.

Also put my hitch on and my brush guard. Gonna track down a new clockspring tomorrow and tackle the Cruise control.

Had to do the same thing on the DD. Turns out, they call it the Sunset Highway for a reason.
