What did you do to your XJ today

put a new dizzy in it. still wont start. gona light it on fire

isnt that the sensor int the distributor? or is there another sensor some were?

Yeah, I think so. I can only find a cam position sensor test for the HO but you have a service manual right? Should be in there.

On my 97 the manual says says the cam sensor should alternate between 0 and 5 volts when the engine is being cranked. The manual states this test is done with an ANALOG meter connected to the Cam Position Sensor by inserting paper-clips into the back of the connector.

Ya I have the manual some were. Just got to find it

More like what did you do to your XJ this week?

Installed RE adjustable UCA's (pushed my luck w/ stockers for too long)
Installed higher degree shims on the rear axle to eliminate driveline vibes
Installed Jeepers and Creepers HD battery cables
Installed new rear brake shoes and flushed the brake fluid
Shaved my rear 8.25 so now I look like I'm rockin' a 35 :anon:
Started install of rear Aussie locker

Still to do:
Finish rear locker instal
Replace exhaust manifold
Install MORE motor mounts
Install THOR intake

I got my 8.25 installed.
Shaved the housing, installed the aussie locker and all new brakes and hung it under the jeep with new u-bolts.
The aussie locker should get everyone in the culdesac staring at me when I come home:D

I think so as well. Doesn't the new distributer come with it? I remember reading somewhere that the price of a cam position sensor is like the same price as a disributer so most people just buy the entire distributer.

The manual states this test is done with an ANALOG meter connected to the Cam Position Sensor by inserting paper-clips into the back of the connector.

Why an analog meter vs a digital?

Pretty funny that uber xj and myself did the same thing on the same day.

Must be some pretty popular upgrades.

I did get my brakes bled and extended shackles installed this morning.
Took it for a drive and the brakes and locker are working.
Now it's time to put the kid down for a nap and get to work on the rock sliders!

Yeeeaaaaaahhhhh!

Why an analog meter vs a digital?

I dont think the digital ones will show a voltage sweep very well and mine doesn't sample and display the voltages fast enough. I have an expensive Fluke auto-ranging meter and its almost useless to test alternating or changing voltages like the TPS or CPS.

hmm okay I see. Can you select the range manually as well? It should help it respond faster, if you have that ability that is. I know on my MAC multimeter I can, I can also do data recording, I wonder if mine would work. I'm gonna have to try it just for fun one day.
