FWIW I bought some Rancho centering pins at 4 wheel parts two years ago, and they've been in 3 different leaf packs, never had a problem with them.
Most of their life was also under a ruffstuff spring perch kit so they are clamped down with some beef.

Bronzewyrm came and picked up the shell of my green xj today. About an hour later he showed up back at my house without the xj :dunno:
Long story short, a few of you got a text message and a call back. thank you for the help. Since neither of us had taken apart a rear end before it was very helpful info.
Bronz had a Buddie with him and I am bad with names, but here's a couple picks of them tearing up the d35 on the side of hwy 217 while I looked good and took pics.. :smoker:
See it's fun to watch others do the work.
We weren't sure what we really needed to do at first. I just threw the floor jack and jack stands in my rig with hand tools. His bottle jack made a nice hammer.. lol

there are two morals to this story.... Cell phones ARE NOT overrated. and Trust Your Intuitions. BRING TOOLS!
besides. i knew i was going to have to learn to pull carriers at some point. just dident think it would be on the side of the 217.

after the mornings events. i stuck the spedo at 50 and sunday drove it home. stoped in salem to drop aaron off. then the shop is in dallas. so i went out there and back befor ariving home.
life is an adventure!

we got about 10 miles from spikes place and the pinion said :gonnablow.
after we removed the carrier, the yolk/pinion was still binding something feirce. i think spike got really lucky he wasent still drivng the thing.
we pulled the carrier, removed the ring gear, and re-installed the carrier to get home. of course we put the axles back in and bolted them down befor we realised we needed the carrier in there to hold the axles in place. :doh:.
