What did you do to your XJ today

I washed it. haha

I changed out the rear main seal and replaced the bushing on the front sway bar. No more leak and hopefully no more shake...but it's a jeep, so I guess that will just lead me to something else to fix!! :banghead:

why? even powder coating them makes no sense. if the rig is wheeled you WILL scratch the sliders and bumper and rhino lining and power coating WILL chip and crack. just a waste in $$. buy some cheap spray paint. then when you scratch them up touch up is simple and easy! hahaha

what if you already just have some laying around like me? i wouldn't think its a waste of money....

oh and can i ask you a question XJOFFROAD.......
how come you're having such a negative attitude? I mean i just want to know.
(Not trying to make it sound in a rude way)

Everyone has their own priorities. In the past I was envious of the guys that had body damage, and my body was perfect. Time goes on, priorities change. Now I want to still beef up the Jeep, but take it back to a state cleanliness.

Unless you are a rhino liner dealer you do not have it laying around. You probably have a knock off if its laying around. Still a waste if you are going to wheel your jeep. I'm speaking from experience. I powder coated my bumper. Brushed against a tree and the powder coating cracked.

yeah its herculiner but alright then i'll take your word for it. but i wouldn't powder coat mine either when i do get sliders and all that. but i'll probubly herculine them

I respect your opinion but paint is still just paint. Powder coating is much more durable, and a can of touch up paint fixes any scratches, and they make exact color matched cans for like 5 bucks. Anything is going to get scratched but since I take a certain since of pride in my XJ in how nice it looks even though I wheel it, I still want the best finish and the longest lasting option out there for my circumstances, but this thread is about what you did to your XJ and not what you should do.

Oh yeah to stay on topic, I'm replacing all the grade 8 hardware on the steering with new so I have spares. Also going to start drawing up ideas for a rear cargo storage area since I plan to take the spare off the roof rack. A pain in the you know what when you have to drag a 35" tire off the rack of a 6.5" lifted XJ when your only 5' 7" :D

beg to differ. powder coating will spider crack on impact. my uncle owns a powder coating shop here in town and he did my bumper. like i said i did my front bumper and wished i didnt. if you are planning to buy $5 spray cans to do touch up work, why powder coat it? makes no sense.

anodizing stands up a little more to abuse. Trailready anodizes their rings now because of the failures that powder coating has.

but it does look great once its powder coated! post up some pics when its done

yeah same here well i mean for the storage area but i got it all drawn up and stuff i just need to make now haha but when its done it should be pretty sick.

but i'm still trying to find out how i'm going to store my 33" tire though..... well when i do get a spare hahaha

Loaded it down with tons of crap and went camping, I think I tripled my stopping distance.

worked on my brake lines again and the jeep won... I am gonna have someone else do it

Installed HI/LOW H4 spot lights, got a set on mine and a set on the girlfriends jeep!!

Powdercoat spider cracks? Never had any issues with that on anything I've had done and I had quite a few rather large hits to my sliders and back bumper. The can of touch up spray is to touch up my rock sliders when I scrape them up which will happen whether you have paint or powdercoat. I'll definitely post up pics of when there done! On a different note, I realized there is not to many options on stuffing a 35x12.50 tire into the back of an XJ if you want to keep the back seat, and still see out the whole back window. I managed a few ideas which I will post up on later when I get around to it and a more finished product.

Friday I changed all my fluids, replaced my pinion bearings in the 44, reset my gears and welded the rear end up. I had badly twisted springs and when I went to leave saturday around a corner my drivers leaf broke behind the front eye. So I replaced the main leafs with 52" chevys which also brought my rear end back about 2". THEN I thrashed my jeep a little more this weekend. I know have see through tape for tail lights and only have the bottom half of my hatch left. (secured nicely with bright orange duct tape) :guitar: Got some sweet video though. Ill be posting it up later. :gee:

Hey, ya know. People just need to quit telling me that I wont be able to do some things in my jeep... lol
