What did you do to your XJ today

Thought about installing my new Shims and replacing my thermostat. That's as far as I got. Then I drove the red jeep to the store for corn dogs and onion rings.

Here we go.

WASHED IT

Attempted to install my D30 guts and try to keep them from binding up. FAIL. I have no idea whats wrong.

Got my front and rear locker switches, and some new D30 ARB locker parts.

I didn't paint 'em or anything, they're just stock like that.

It's an '89 limited with all the moldings and gold emblem and pinstriping taken off, so I think it's a Limited thing.

Found out that my new ring and pinion is a bad set. The run-out is .004" and some. So I guess I have to make a couple phone calls tomorrow.

In the meantime I installed my ARB switch and air line. Works like a charm, the rear locker locks and unlocks!

Upgraded to a ZJ fan clutch/ No more 220 in traffic!
Wired an adjustable temp sensor for the aux fan and a manual lighted switch (it'll go in the dash when I find my dremel) just in case.
Rear brakes are clunking, and fronts are squealing so I'm sure that'll be next, and I REALLY need to lube the tranny output splines....they's noisy off the line :gee:

Ordered my front ARB locker switch and solenoid, also ordered new front gears to replace the bad set I got from Nitro Gears.

well im trying to make johnny law happier and even though I hate them both and think there ugly I added mudflaps and rear mj flairs in the front. Still need another set of rears with brackets for the back.

Goblazers welded a piece of plate with bolts to the inside of bumper and we cut out L shape brackets to mount the flaps to. Then using another piece of plate we sandwhiched the flaps for some strength. Wing nuts will make them easily removeable at the trailhead.

Cleaned up around it.. and fired it up for the first time since early april..
Oh.. and bought some Yukon inner alloys.. but if everything pans out.. it wont see a D30 ever again.

Good chit, 44 or 60?

Tried finishing up the never ending story......Gears, but failed to do so because the new bearings made the pinion too deep so I had to pull the bearing and change shim depth.
