What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

That's discouraging to see...considering those ballistic joints are what I have on all my links.

Though in all honesty, if they give me any trouble I'll just switch them all out to some quality heims.

Mine started creaking like an old castle door when I'd drive it. Went underneath to find that this mess. It was metal-on-metal when I opened up the body of the joint.

Just crack one open and see if it has the red poly bushings in there. Also, did you buy the spanner wrench for them? If not, there's no way to get them tight enough with it.
 
you can get an adjustable spanner at HF for a few bucks, they appear nearly identical to the older RE joints (which were noisy as hell on my XJ), and thats what I used to use for those... I think a DeWalt spanner for a 4.5" angle grinder fits as well...
 
Practically stole a set of 5 of these from discount tire on a crazy price match.

Then wrapped em in 31x10.50 Big O A/T's on a stupid deal and did a little trimming to get em on the sisters stock 99...

Just at a grand for 5 new wheels, 4 new tires, an alignment and road hazard. Winning.

Today i just finished my continuing saga on my door swap. I finally figured out how to get the door locks off the 97 door to work on my 95. I will be posting my write up soon. Finishing up cleaning the wires as we speak.
 
Does anyone in the Denver area have a tubing bender that I can use this weekend? I have a piece of 1.75" roll cage support tubing that needs to be bent on both ends. It should take 5 min.

I'll buy you a sandwich or something....

This!!! I've swapped the doors on my 96 to the 97+ style and have the power windows and mirrors working but have not been able to figure out the lock switches on the front doors, I'm excited to see what you figured out.
 
Ya, I had all the other stuff working too, could even get the doors to unlock, just not lock. The "key in the ignition sense" fought me till now. I plan on doing the write up this week. Lots of pictures to add and edit.
 
Figured out what the clunk in the front was. Will be replacing my 1 year old spicer ball joints this week. After china mans and the entrance to carnage my driver side is moving up and down about a 1/4". Found some Alloy USA ball joints for a good price so will do both sides and keep PS for spares.
 
Those boatsides give me a broner.....
 
I found an olive drab Jerry Fuel Can from a guy in Colorado Springs. Perfect fit. :D

 
What, you posted a picture before you repainted it? I'm shocked, shocked.

I don't know if I'm going to paint it. I kinda like the weathered look.
