What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

it does class the place up...

LOL!! That is awesome man. My first house in St. Louis was previously owned by an artist and had similar decor. Keep it.

Took some time off away from the jeep, to have a different vacation. Get a little sun

Just say no to hooks........... yikes.

Please, just a D-ring insert or just use the receiver pin and hook-less strap.

Took a 1/2 day today and tomorrow off from work. Shot the door jambs and letting it dry overnight. I'll be painting the entire rig tomorrow.

Just an FYI...

If you guys ever need THE toughest alkyd enamel primer on the retail market, go to Sherwin Williams and get their Bare Metal base primer. HOLY SHEET that stuff is hard as a rock after letting it dry for about a week. It took 3 packages of Norton's Profession 180grit to level it out. Then 220, then 320, then 450, then 700.

Ugh...I remember why I don't do this anymore.

Pictures to follow

da hook is total hillbilly--i love it! easy and fast hookup. but then again....i am cautious on pulling and all that stuff.prior jeep and winch exp plus all the on the job years doing frame repairs and sending chains flying and junk lmao

i fixed my alternator, and cleaned up some wiring grounds under my hood. wow i have brake lights and turn signals now !
yeah minor stuff....no budget for 4wheeling parts yet. but i has a Jeep and thats a start.:flame:

Been about 7 years since I did a total body resto on a vehicle....Still got it.

No Sir. This is WWII Army Jeep Green from Gillespie. It's just a Alkyd Enamel with a hardener and matting agent. Tough as nails with the hardener.

I have sprayed CARC before and it is SOO volatile! I wouldn't do it unless I had pressurized air and a downdraft booth. We used to paint a lot of H1s with it back in Florida. Even after it was dried, the off-gas would make everyone in the shop a little loopy.

If you use it, please be careful.

All the booths at my shop are downdrafts with fresh air supply :)

Good stuff...Have at it!

CARC holds up great if you reduce it properly and use a 1.8 tip (if my memory serves me correctly). We would set our at-gun pressure right around 25psi (psi at tip was 12psi).

DON'T use Oxsol for thinner. I don't care if anyone say otherwise. Don't use it. It'll wrinkle like a beotch! There's a special reducer called "T" something or other; I can't remember it's exact name. But it's what the military uses when it does their LAVs and Humvees. It's a special order item that not many paint stores keep in stock.

If you have any questions if you ever spray it let me know. I have nearly every paint/reducer/activator/hardener/humidity combination written down in my old notebook.

Looks cool Jim...... But WTF is up with that cut line on the drivers front fender??? Did the air chisel get away from ya there Mr. Body Guy?
