What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

I should know the name, but.... It's right there off of Colorado on the west side. I just go there because it is close.

Out with the old:

FWIW. Whenever adding fluids to a rig you purchased, never assume the PO tightened down the PS lines. They make a distinct POP and then splatter as PS fluid sprays your garage roof....

That was pretty lucky! This guy heard a noise, lost the power to his steering, then all hell broke loose.

Whats replacing it?

The voices in my head are telling me to build a buggy. I may just put the new axles, trans, Atlas, tires and wheels on this one until I get motivated. I need to be lighter and narrower, but I'm still a Cherokee aficionado so I'm torn on which route I'll take.

Sneak peak at the new rear goodies:

Who knew tire pressure would cause so much wobble. I know what the problem is now though. The steering box I picked up from troy a while back has a good amount of play in it. I need a new pump anyway. May be getting a tj pump and box for cheap. Then just gotta swap the motor then I should be all good. Also need to do front u-joints. If anyone wants to help swap my motor let me know I could use some extra hands.

Because its cheap. I'll get the renix box rebuilt and tapped for hydro while I am driving it on the tj box. That way I can at least drive it.

You'll take the last of my cash with you tomorrow after dropping that steering box off.

When I was swapping out my CPS, I noticed the transmission mount to tranny bolts were AWOL. Looking at the witness marks on the mount, I'm thinking that after I get more bolts, I'll have to spend another $30 to set Helicoils in the aluminum tranny housing...riiiiiiiiiiight!!!!:smsoap:

It appears those m12x1.75 kits are made of the fabled unobtanium alloy. I'm hoping there is enough aluminum to hold a 12mm insert with a finer thread pitch...if I can buy one local.
