Well guys it looks like I'll be leaving the NAC chapter for quite some time. Tomorrow I leave for USAF basic training at Lackland AFB in Texas. From there I'm going to Eglin AFB for EOD training in northern Florida. I'll be getting my XJ sometime in the winter so I can have myself transportation during my long training period. It has been a blast talking with you guys and NAC Fest was a ball. Wish I could stick around longer and wheel with you more but life calls haha. Thanks for the great times. I'll stop in here from time to time when I get myself a computer though just to bs with everyone.

Best of luck to you. FWIW you're going into the service at a good time -- people don't resent the military today the way they have at various times in recent memory. You'll do fine in training. Just keep your nose clean, and make an effort not to stand out of the crowd -- i.e., don't be a dud, and don't try to be a star.

The philosophy of basic training is to chop everyone off at the knees until you're all at the same level, then they rebuild you to their image. They unload on duds, but they also unload on stars because they want everyone to be part of the "team."
