So I got my XJ back from my mom after 2 years of suffering. Still has less than 90k on it so happy happy, joy joy.

Need to get it lifted and want to do it fairly quickly cause don't liek riding around low to the ground unless I am in my car!!!!

Anyway, sorry for the late night posting ramble...been up for way too many hours...

What Stocky has now:

SYE
HD Driveshaft
Adj. UCAs

What I have in garage:
Extended brakelines F/R

I plan on doing this once (again) so will probably be at 35s or so.

Back in the day that required a bunch of lift, but now...that seems to have changed.

What do I need to get to put soem 35s on it and go?

RE 5.5 XD kit?
Can I squeeze them on with a 4.5" kit?

Before I drop cash...what do I really need????

Thanks

Tiffany

Didn't you just sell a bunch of lift parts over the past year??? :D

Yeah, I think you'd be hard pressed to get 35's under the rig with the 4.5" lift - even with a ton of trimming.

If you search the Picture Showcase forum there's lots of threads about what fits with what lifts.

Welcome back to the XJ world!

Yeah, when I sold the XJ to Led I got rid of all the spare parts. I knew this day was coming...just didn't know when.

Have the keys in my hand and will be driving it to work tomorrow.

So 5.5" at least...since I tend to carry no weight that will put me at the former 6.5" I had...easy enough.

Now to find the lift parts I need...for a price I want to pay...

Look out... I think that Jeep's name needs to be changed to Yo-yo, by the way.
:D

Now if that aint a fitting name...but he's been Stocky since I bought him home June 14, 1999 with just 2 miles on the odo...he might get pissed if I change his name now...I mean after all he's been through :D

The RE 5.5" XD kit is a great kit, but way too tall for 35's. I lowered my 5.5" kit by replacing the 4.5" ZJ coils with 3.5" ZJ coils, and I ditched the extended shackle for a stock shackle, and my 4.5" RE packs are well worn and used with over 50,000 miles on them. I'm sitting 5", running 35" MT/R's on 15x10's with 3.5" BS (normally don't recommend 15x10's, but they were free and I love the 77" trackwidth). I can't remember the exact amount of bumpstops, but it is either 5 or 6" front and rear. I haven't trimmed past the rear pinch seams, at all. I don't rub anywhere. My flex is pretty good IMHO, the ride quality is phenominal, and the stability on off camber stuff is awesome.

I know you've been around the XJ scene for a long time, so I'm sure you know how to trim and bumpstop, but I'll go ahead and post my tech articles for those they do not.

Gawd....wrenchin' on stocky again...who woulda thunk it? :D

Welcome back to the XJ world for the umpteenth time, Tiff!

I will have 33-35s with whatever the 5.5 XD gives me...trying to figure out if I should do a cheapie lift right now just to get it off the ground and then get the lift when it warms up a bit...just anxious to get some air under Stocky cause it's just so little right now...

I wish my current employer was as understanding about other peoples' Jeeps as Wally @ Marlen's was, I'd throw another lift party. I should be able to sneak in an alignment or two for ya Tiffster, I remember that deal. That is, if you want to drive to Greeley.

Speaking of Marlen's, Wally has now closed the doors.. as of a couple months ago. I was his last employee and he went it alone after I quit, must have been irreplaceable. :D

I can drive to Stinky Town...ick....

Doubt you will ever find an employer as understanding as Wally was.

Well I may be tossing a cheapie 4.5" lift on Stocky just so I can buy new tires and get that out of the way...do the LA lift in May or so.

Can I fit 33s on with a 4.5" lift...mild offroading?

God I hope so. But I plan to do a lot of trimming. :banghead: (based on what these guys have been telling me, it should work)
