good buy or bad buy?
"I have a Century 230 amp AC welder for sale. I only used it a couple of times and realized I like DC better and bought a DC machine. It requires 220v and comes with a dryer style pig tail attached. No leads with it though. $100 will take it home"

FWIW - the Century Mig welder that the Mini Baja team is using blows big time... but that is most likely the cheapest thing that *can* join two pieces of steel that you can buy - and was bought because of that...

AC welders are stick, but some stick welders are AC or DC... MIG is a DC process. I'd hold out for a nice MIG unit Jeremy, they are much easier to learn with.

My first welder is the Hobart 125 wire feed. This welder is pretty good. I never welded before I got this and it worked great for my 8.8 swap and alot of other jobs around the house. What kind of money are you looking to spend? This one was around the $300.00 to $400.00 range. If this interests you than I would go the little extra money and get the gas option Hobart 140.

If that is too much money for now than I would look at a MIG welder from Harbor Freight. Yeah, they are not the greatest name out there but for the money I have seen their MIG welders do pretty damn good. HTH.

Kim.
