Anybody know about how much a trailer made from the back half of a MJ would weigh? I know it would vary with wheels and tire size, gas tank or not. How much would this weigh?
The bed only weighs a couple hundred pounds. An empty gas tank maybe 50 pounds (and you can remove that). Frame, axle, wheels, tires and other hardware maybe 500.
Don't forget you won't have brake hardware, driveshaft, exhaust, or gas & brake lines on the trailer.
I agree with what was said above, but you could save some weight by getting rid of the gas tank, the parking brake, and replacing the rear axle with a 2000-3000 pound or so trailer axle. Would probably use the same bolt pattern as stock wheels so you could keep those, but that would lessen the weight and boost capacity.
mine weighed in less than 900. Dont
't remember exactly how much and the reg just says less than 900lbs. NY state classifies under 900 and over 900.

My skinny ass and another guy managed to lift my longbed off by ourselves. The gas tank weighs maybe 30 lbs empty. I can move a D35 around by myself, so it's not more than 150 lbs. I guess it depends on how much metal was added to do the tongue, but I'd venture it's a lot lighter than it looks.
