Weapons in School?

You know, any more it seems that you can't take much more than a sharp pencil or a ball point pen into a school as a student before you get expelled for bringing a dangerous weapon on school property. We've had alot of students over the past few of years buying 1/4"x1/4" balsa by the tree (and speding a good amound of green too) to make bridges for The Science Olympiad, but lately they've been noticing that some students bringing past projects done by older siblings so they've changed the projects this year, one is a load bearing tower (crane) and the other is basicly a catapult that the students have to build so that it's funtional, and can be fired at and take out a target! Am I the only one who finds this hypocritical?

So since a science nerd can build a model catipult out of Balsa wood, another student should be able to bring his gun and hunting knife. Absolutly, makes perfect sense.

I remember having a project like that in a physics class. Two person teams trying to build a device that could launch a mini basketball. Several catagories were included...most distance, accuracy (shooting a freethrow), repeatability, etc. These were slightly on the large side to be used as any kind of weapon. The winner used a "barrel" made from four 2x2's about ten feet tall and propelled the ball with surgical tubing. Basically a big slingshot with a barrel for aiming.

As for weapons in school being hypocritical...I find almost all school rules to be hypocritical at some point or another.

its amazing how a few "bad eggs" ruin it for everyone now kids get in trouble for having their bows in the back of their trucks becuase they go hunting after school. to me that is total bs

This is what I was talking about Powerman, like Don was mentioning here.

Never forget that a majority of the educators in this country are secular left-wing humanists who insist on indoctrinating kids into their way of thinking. My 5 year old twins brought home a workbook in which the word rhyme was spelled rime. They are teaching the kids things that are not merely debatable points of view, but things that are flat-out WRONG in the name of being "progressive."

You might want to step away from the computer and get your meds refilled. There is no conspiracy. They are not teaching your 5 year old to be illiterate.:bs:

I know what you are talking about. I'm a city boy. I never took my rifle to school cause I went hunting after school. That was 20 years ago and if I had I would have been expeled. I know because I was suspended for taking my BB gun to school. That was after a student shot a teacher. But hey, can't they take a joke?
I'm sure in the farm town of 3000 I'm in right now that sort of thing still goes on. But then again my parents neigbour lets their 13 year old drive the tractor to harvest their fields. I don't think we are talking about the same thing. There is nothing good for every situation. The reason weapons are not allowed in school is because of all the idiots "bustin caps" in each other. Todays schools are not Leave it to Beaver academies.

What is so wrong with little Johnny going home to get his bow to go hunting after school?

If they had read the student handbook... there is almost always a clause about not bringing weapons onto school property. If they don't want to get in trouble they should park off of school property, its as simple as that.

I so bad wish I could tell you what a retard you are but since we aren't allowed to pick on other members I won't.

It doesn't matter if you are in a town of 5 million or 500. Its not legal anywhere in this country to bring guns to school anymore.

My father actually had a gun club at his school when he was growing up and guess what??? No one ever got shot at school. The problem is not with the guns. Its with the way we are raising our kids today. Parents don't care.

Maybe you haven't noticed but every school shooting in the last 10 years has been at a school that doesn't allow weapons. How could that be??? They are not allowed!

Typical stupid Liberal reasoning...If you ban it, then everyone will follow the rules and poor little kiddies will never get hurt.

I say let the hick kids bring their hunting rifles to school. Then maybe the next time some whacked out little snot nosed latchkey kid(who most likely has parents who are afraid of guns) comes to school with an arsenal of guns, the hick kids can take care of the problem that the Political correct police can't seem to handle.

If every teacher in the country had to go to weapons training and had a .45 in a desk drawer you would see school shootings end.....imeadiatly.

This made me chortle

Guns aren't bad, they're tools. I could use a screwdriver to kill just as easily as a knife, but a screwdriver is still allowed.

Because our children live in fantasy worlds created by the media and they're own imaginations. That's what happens when you don't pay any attention to them.

I grew up in a town where it wasn't a big deal if you had a shotgun in the trunk and went hunting after school. Hell, the school practically shut down for the first two days of shotgun season

SHHHHH!!! You're using common sense, the media says we're not allowed to have that anymore.

From California eh? Who would have guessed. Do me a favor and don't EVER move to a small town in Utah, Idaho or Montana. Nothing worse than damn Californians in the small town mountain west.

Pleasd tell me what a retard I am. I'm a big boy. It would be better than back handed insults. Is that why you love guns so much cuase you are such a woos? See that is how you do that asshat. Ya that is the answer arm everybody. It has worked so well with the Blood and the Crips. The killing stopped immediately.
And before you go classifying me I will be getting my CC permit and plan to do so cause I have the right as a responsible law abiding citizen.

Well, since I'm the only one in the thread who lives in California, I guess you are directing this at me? If so, f*** you. If not, sorry for the misunderstanding.

On another note, you also say there is nothing worse than Californians moving to small towns in Utah, Idaho, or Montana. For this I must say...F*** you. And there is no half way here. You definetely insulted me with that one. What makes you think you are so much better just because of the location in which you were born. Consider yourself lucky to be where you are, but don't get upset when other people like "your" neck of the woods.

BTW, this is not a personal attack, I would like to also attack anyone else who feels the same way and likes to generalize about "all" of any group (like Californians).

I like that. Nice and direct.:D I'm the same as everyone I guess. I get to a place and don't want it to change. I don't mind Californians off hand, just don't like all the people moving here running up property prices and taxes, and traffic, and problems that come with them. But then the people that lived here before me probably feel the same about me. I know as long as the poulation keeps growing, cities will continue to grow.

By the way, I know I'm a retard, why do you think I argue on a forum?:D

I really have to agree with you here. Cal is the same way. I've lived here my whole life, and now that I'm in a position to buy a house...I can't afford it becasue the damn market has gone nuts! I better stop right here....This is my worst rant in life.

PS...I hate all the Californians too.
