We have lost one of our own...

Mike and Dave will be GREATLY missed! Have a few drinks for me in their name please. This past weekend was pretty scary, all the reports I got. Several injuries and now the death of Mike and Dave.

I think we should plant a cashe in their memory!!!! Maybe some NAXJA stickers, caps, etc. What do you think? I know they would LOVE that!

Wow, I was just talking with someone about trying to find the group Mike
belonged too.
I will pass on what ever info I get.

This is the last email I sent out this morning.

If you have not seen or heard this yet. A news video of the area. Warning though. Dave or Mike is being air lifted out and you can see the Jeep down the side 900 feet or so. http://www.kget.com/mediacenter/?videoId=10158

I know we are all wondering what might have really happened and we probably will not ever find out. Sometime in the next 3 weeks or so I am going to go out to the site to pray and piece of mind. Anyone is more than welcome to go along. If I can arrange my schedule I am going to try a go this week Thursday or Friday. If Saturday would be better for anyone we can go as a group.

We lost two great people and will be missed more than I can explain. If
you pray or not please think or pray for Dave's and Mikes families.

This is some additional info regarding the accident. As soon as I hear of services, etc. I will post up the details.

Oh crap! I am in absolute shock right now...

Mike was a great guy. Super nice guy and full of ideas and information. And he was also an inspiration. He will be sorely missed...

Very sad day. I only met him once while hiding a T a many months ago. I had no idea he was even on NAXJA, but am sad to hear the news. I was just talking to my uncle (KD6LAJ) yesterday about how he had just finished getting his XJ back on the road after about six months of "fixing" due to being run off the road.

I am so sorry guys, I know what a great guy he was. This is such a shock, a terrible event. Mike Dash is going to put something on the SoCal site and after the services I think it would be grea to have a run in his memory.

Mike and I were just starting to become close over the last few months. It was really hard for me to read through the variouse emails I've received today.. but i got through them.

It confused the barkeep at the pub tonight, when I had him pour an extra glass and leave it at am empty setting at the table. I kept hoping Mike would walk through the door and claim it, ending a bad dream. Wether or not he walked through the door, it comforted me to know that wherever his beliefs have taken him, he knows he was and will remain welcome at my table.

I cant recall ever crying over a full cup of beer before. Leaving the table knowing it was still full left tears in my eyes, and they are still there.

;(

My sincerest condolences go out to his family and freinds. I met Mike at the Anaheim MnG, and he seemed like the type of person you wanted to be around, and could inspire in the way he dealt with obstacles and overcame them (jeeping). Though I only met him once, it is still with great sorrow that a fellow Jeeper and NAXJA member has left us. May he rest in peace.

I only met him at a couple M&Gs but he was a hell of a guy. It seemed like he always had a story to tell, and good ones at that. My impression of him, is that he was one of the most sincere, friendly people I've ever met. Damn.

He died doing two of his favorite things...wheeling and hunting. We should all be so lucky.

oh cool he put those fiberglass fenders on! they were soo cool when he showed me them at his place. I helped him press in some U joints for his new Dana 44 he got. He was telling me about how he wanted to lower his roof rack and move the lights back more. Looks like he got most of that finished.

They were happy... ill miss you obie.

How ironic. I just got my call sign today and was listening to some locals relay the story about Mike on the 2 meter, then I fire up NAXJA and here it is again. What a great life he led. I'm sorry I never got to meet him in person.

I would like to see everyone meet up at Santiogo Canyon College first. lets say around 10:00am/10:30am then drive in together. How does that sound. Then from there drive up sattle back to the top of the mountain to share our stories about it. Let me know if everyone is ok with this and sounds like a good idea. Thnx
