Warrior Products Side Plates For XJ

I am planning on getting AJ's super rails in about a week or so. I originally bought these plates to cover up a little bit of rust I have on my passenger side. So once I fix that, the rock rails go on. These plates conform to the body very well, but like I said, the rear ones did not fit. I tried dry fitting them, and it just wasn't happening.

Re: Rhino liner

the plastic retainer bracket for the rear bumper caps goes up to that point

Correct.

If I went up that far on the belt line OMHO it would not have looked right...

Hey wOmps. Nice look. One qustion, what kind of poprivets are you using?
Stainless steel or aluminium? Did you protect the painting behind the plates?:wave1:

I used 3/16" Aluminum rivets with 1/4" grab. They worked great, and the original rivets were the same, only 1/8" grab though. I just drilled and riveted on, didn't worry about the paint behind the plates. We'll see what happens.

I see new rocker panels in your future buddy! I would replace those before the rust gets too bad!

You should have used self tappers or something if you didn't want to use rivits, I am thinking that the 3m trim tape will kind of defeat the purpose of the plates being strong and firm. I don't know, maybe not, they are definitely heavier than the rubber molding found on XJ's.

I'm not using them to protect the body, that's what the sliders are for (coming soon). It's more a cosmetic thing to cover up the rust repair and rivets/screws would look pretty bad IMHO.

That molding tape is pretty damn strong, I had to take a door piece off after seeing it out of alignment and it was a royal pain in the @ss.

I don't know im a minimalist and it just seems like extra crap that's not needed and seems to be a new point to start rust, i agree with rhino lining it instead, no bolts no plates or anything for salt/water to get stuck behind.
