Wanted: Skilled Ford Mechanic

LOL -- I saw bore and started thinking cylinders... Its an edelbrock performer, I don't know the model number off the top of my head, but it uses the same rebuild kit as a Carter.

I just went out and looked -- per the pics above, its a square bore, although the secondaries are slightly smaller than the primaries, I think. Of course I'm looking top down too, instead of bottom up like the pics...

probably a square bore....its a ferd...but we'll see
Yup, just have to wait and see.

Ford did have a spread bore, put them on 460s. Recently, I got lucky and found one for a guy.

Hollar, Edelbroke, Motorcrapt, Quadrajunk, all can be made to work if the carb is the right size for the engine, and the castings are good.

It may be getting snuff Chevy parts to make it run ?? More to come, but likely in my build thread...

I hear ya, but there are a few areas where GM got something right -- fuel delivery appears to be one of them.

Flores came by yesterday, and she actually fired right up -- but the edelbrock is still not right (we'll blame that on the guy who rebuilt it :eyes:), so we're looking at grafting a chevy TBI system on it instead and doing away with near constant carbureation problems. it appears that system will also work well with the DUI dizzy I have for it, so while I'll be doing more work than I planned, I think it will be work I'll be happy we did.

While I agree TBI would be a plus but a proper carb rebuild and tune can be very reliable and problem free. What went wrong with the rebuild? I would be glad to take a stab at the carb if you want to drop it off with a rebuild kit.

Thanks, Joe, and I may tear it down again as well (one of the accellerator pumps is not working, so its starving for fuel pretty badly), but if we can get it done economically, the TBI will be great -- since I have the wiring, guages and dizzy already on hand, it looking like the 454 TBI should be fairly simple to get in there, and then I'll have lost my wiring mess and my non-working guages as well.
