I need to turn my yard art stomper into something useful, and soon. Flores has offered to help for beer and pizza, but he's even busier than I am and we haven't been able to get together to do it --here's the rub, it needs to be a housecall, because the beast ain't moving.
Background: Stomper is an overbuilt 1979 Ford F-250, now sitting on 1-ton running gear and 37's (its TALL, so if you're short, bring a ladder
). Its "powered" by a 460, bored 3 over out of a '77 t-bird. Carb is an Edelbrock/Carter 4bbl, which I tore down, soaked in an acid bath, and rebuilt last summer (I also replaced the electric fuel pump and washed the muck out of the fuel system at the same time). It ran briefly, though not particularly well (thanks to some timing help from Joe94xj), for a week or two thereafter, long enough to get it weighed, but it died on the way home so I haven't bothered getting it registered as yet. I suspect its gummed up with ethanol sludge again now that it has sat for several months (I put some stabil blue in it, but I lack confidence in the product).
I purchased it from a friend, and there is less than 20k on this engine post-complete rebuild. It has always had a backfire issue, and I do have an HEI distributor that could be installed, though it will require some extensive re-wiring to make it work -- we can discuss if its an issue later. At this stage, I know it had both fuel and spark last time it ran, but it still appeared to be running on less than 8 cyl. I need someone that has more than my shade-tree knowledge to get it cooking. I'll gladly pay reasonable rates for someone who can get results, but obviously I preferred Flores' pizza/beer rates.
PM me if you can help out or if you're interested -- I'm in Black Forest just east of I-25, north of Colorado Springs.
