I am back in the hunt for a new Comanche. Requirements:
88-92
4.0
doesn't matter if it is manual or auto
231
short bed
rust free
less than 150,000 miles

I am really looking for a trade. I have the following.
1989 Jeep Wrangler
4.3 Vortech with FIS wiring harness
4L60E
Dana 300 with clocking ring and twin sticks
Badlands built cage with seat tie-ins
Art Carr Shifter
Corbeau Seats
Aluminum Fuel Cell
Dana 60 front with detroit, 5.13's, 35 spline outers, warn drive flanges
14 Bolt rear with detroit, 5.13's, disc brakes
Wagoneer springs in SOA for longer wheelbase

This jeep does not run. It either needs the computer reflashed, or the wiring harness redone. I just don't have the time or money to figure it out. I have a lot of money in this jeep. I am trying to sell it for $7,500.

Do you want a hardcore rig to complement your XJ, or maybe scavange the parts for yourself?? What I want is a MJ in nice shape!

I'm an hour West of St. Louis. I have an '87 Pioneer, faded Silver paint, red bench interior with carpet. The MJ has 4.0L, 5spd, short bed, 160K, power steering and brakes, sliding rear glass, decent tires, D35 rear, and VERY MINIMAL RUST. IT's been my daily driver for more than a year and has been reliable.

Things I've done to it - new exhaust including Cat, a new windshield, a CD Player, new waterpump, hoses, belt, thermo, and thoroughly flushed.

Minor flaws that it has:
Dent in lower rocker passenger side of the bed in front of the wheel.
Door Ding in Passenger door along upper body crease.
Dent under drivers side tailight behind bumper that's not very noticeable.
The front axle doesn't always shift over for 4x4. Suspect a vacuum leak.

Medium flaws that it has:
A hole in the bed near the drivers side tailight about the size of a quarter. It looks like brake fluid or something stripped the paint off in that area and it wasn't repainted. A handsized rusty spot, but easily repairable since that's a reatively flat area.

Obvious Pluses:
No rust to speak of other than above - rockers are solid and the wheel wells are too. Crawl underneath and it's factory gray and even undercoated in places. A very solid and restorable truck. Not a beater or tube buggy donor.

I could also sell a '90 XJ along with it that has AC, power windows, locks, sunroof, buckets, etc.

You get yourself out to NC with a ton truck and a gooseneck 2-MJ hauller and you can have both of mine.

The LWB 4x4 is missing both doors, both axles, and the transfer case... the BA10/5 tranny is pretty shot and the 7000 mile motor/block has one of the bellhousing "ears" broken (it ran real good though right up till the end.. I've 'stolen' the waterpump, AC condenser & pump off it though)

The 87 SWB 4.0 2x4 needs a lotta love... It was pretty straight/clean until I did something to the driver's door a lot like happened to your old one

Come quick and I'll toss in a non-disco 30 and some nice floormats.

Woody, I would love to take you up on the offer. But I moved away from home. So no shop, no place to park 2 MJ's to make into one. If I can come up with something on that plane, I'll let you know for sure.

I found this one while perusing autotrader.com this week:

89 MJ Eliminator

I know it is 2WD but thought it looked like it was in decent shape from the pic. I could run over and check it out over lunch one day next week if you are interested.
