I am looking for a J-Series truck for between $1000.00 and $1400.00. I live in Maricopa County, Arizona which means I have to be able to pass emissions with it and it would be my daily driver, but I also want the optiion of putting a trailer hitch on it and towing a trailer with a CJ7 trail rig. I am no too concerned with what the body looks like as long as it is safe and the bed can carry stuff. I am only concerned with my budget. I only have the $1400.00 and I need to be able to purchase the vehicle, make sure it gets through emissions testing and get it registered. If anyone knows of anything, please let me know!

Thanks!!!

You might get a rust bucket for that money and then put $3k in it just to stop the leaks, lol.

A good j truck takes a while to find sometimes. However there’s a j10 (1/2 ton) for sale right now in tempe for a lot more than you want to pay. It may be worth it if some money has been put in it. Looks good though and maybe an az truck for that price. Typical places to check closely are the driver’s floor pan, yes check to see if it’s there. They can rust out and a good indicator if it’s a salt belt truck. Check for rusted-out bed panels and frame rot especially around the f/r leaf spring mounts and the front shackle mounts, the fronts are riveted to the frame. Check smog, cat, tubes, egr, air pump, carb vent and canister.

Thanks for the info...I've actually come across that truck in my search. Unfortunately, it's not a matter of what I want to pay...I would love to be able to buy one that I saw for $15,500.00...but i only have $1,400.00. I will just have to keep looking...and maybe while I'm looking I will be able to scrape up a little more, but I don't see hitting $4,500.00 anytime in the next year or so.
