John Popp for Treasurer

My name is John Popp most of your know me as “Ram- Rod” (old construction nick name)

I am running for treasurer of the MWC and would like your vote.

I have been a member of the MWC since 2009. I stumbled upon the site looking for information on XJ’s. I found more than information; I found a group that is knowledgeable and shares my passion of XJ’s and Off-roading.
I have been to 3 WF’s (10, 11 and 12) with my beautiful Jeep partner and wife Tara. Together we have owned a few jeeps: Three XJ’s, Two YJ’s and a CJ with a 401.
My qualifications to be the treasurer are as follows:

Degree in Drafting and Mechanical Engineering. I worked after college as a plant manager for a fab shop.
The past 10 years I have worked as the Funding Director for Provident Mortgage Corporation (Family owned mortgage bank) .I handle all of the transactions between our borrowers and investors including balancing and managing $14,000,000 of warehouse lines of credit. Tara also works for a local bank so set up and management of our Chapter statements would be a breeze.

If elected I would be diligent in keeping all BOD up to date with all chapter transactions. I feel with today’s technology, Balance / Transaction statements should be available at moment’s notice.
I would appreciate your vote.

Good luck John!

John,

What experience do you have with not for profit corporations? Have you ever delt with an NFP account before?

Rev
I have not directly handled an account for a NFP. I have worked with the planning committee for the sailboat racing club I belong to. I did also handle the accounting for our collage yearbook. As stated before I handle a very large warehouse line daily at my full time job. Thank you for the question Rev.

I would like to see a statement to the members at least twice a year with the treasurer's report. Which since this term is only through the end of this year, I'd say at least one statement. Is this something that you think you could accomplish?

Mac: As stated in my original post when i was nominated I see no problem with this at all. I think the running balance and statements could and should be made available to the BOD at all times. Also to the members at any time peroid deamed necessary by the BOD.

Thanks for the reply.

One last thing, since this gets asked to everyone running for MWC BOD lately, would you consider a second event? How can we make it happen?

I would consider a second event. I do feel that if we were going to do that. The planning should be such as to not take anything away from WF as I see that as the MWC premier event.

John,

Over the years there has been talk, as minimal as it may have been, of a chapter split due to our vast size and the distance for many of the members to attend events. What are your thoughts or views pertaining to this?

Thanks!

Tyler: Good question. As I can see it is a long drive for some members for events. I am not really sure what would be gained by spliting up the chapter. This is how I see it.
1: As we do have vaired get togethers from wheeling events to M&G's. It is still a Web based club. So the distance does not really effect that.
2: As for distance traveled by club memebrs it sure does not seem to hurt WF and I am not sure wHat the memberS that are further out would gain being most of the good wheeling spots in the midwest are in the central part.

So I feel strongly that the chapter should stay the way it is.

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS.......

I just wanted to thank everyone that has voted for me so far.
For those of you that do not know me. I may have not been involved in the club as long as some of the other members. I have been active setting up the local members M&G’s.
This year I tried to step up and get more involved with helping cook at the WF pot luck and with helping out BOD members at the dinner.
I also was “gunner” for the green trail this year and plan on being more and more involved in WF activities.
I believe voting for me as treasurer of this special election you will be rewarded with not only a competent treasurer but I will also bring a fresh and new vote to the BOD.

Thank you again for considering me for the position of MWC treasurer

I gotta vote for a guy that can make an xj do a nose stand 'cause that's one heck of a trick!

Balancing xj's and Budgets lol (edited in afterthought)

Thank you for the vote. Never thought that stunt would be worth anything but a story.

I would like to thank all that voted for me again.
