... is this something that you guys would do? it would set my jeep at about 4.5in of lift total but i dont know how smart it would be or if it's very safe. any advice would be great, thanks.

well thats whay i like to hear! but theres one problem.... i just bought new 31in bfg ats and i think it would look kinda goofy sitting that high with those tiny tires on. im lost as to what i should do now... haha

That is aesthetic stuff, and is up to you. You will have more flex and clearance, which is one of the reasons a lift is nice.

this is true... we'll see what happens...

thanks dudes..

well if you are using a lift leaf spring with a stock shackle your limiting your spring which is bad for it. if you want it to sit lower take out the main leaf. as for up front well are you useing coil spacers? you could take those out, having those out and the main leaf out you should be sitting at 3"

4.5 on 31s looks fine, I ran that way for 2 years with 6" hanneman flat tops. Dooooo it. As long as your shackle angle is good you'll be fine

oh boy... this means more waiting for more money for more parts... but itll be worth it im sure... thanks guys... i really appriciate you knowledge.

another thing... i know on 4wd jeeps an sye would be a smart idea for a lift this size but if im only 2wd do i still need an sye? so far i havent seen any for a 2wd jeep. thanks.

Correct me if Im wrong but I dont believe anybody makes such a thing. Id say run a long enough yoke and you will be fine

SYE is only installed on your rear drive shaft, and every jeep has a rear drive shaft.

thats what i was thinking. its a little different looking though theres no Tcase. but im not finding any 2wd SYE kits. but you should be fine with only 4" of lift. i know some one running 6" with stock brake lines and no SYE

I looked into a fixed yoke on my 2wd tf904, it would have to be a hack and tap sort of deal and i concluded it wouldn't be worth the time unless i had a spare trans to "experiment" on. A replacement mainshaft for a trans would be quite a bit more involved than just a replacement mainshaft for a 231 like the SYE kits. Would love to get rid of the slip yoke and run a cv driveshaft.

your schackle angle will be messed up if you run 3.5in lift springs with stock schackls. the rear suspension will be really rough and the schackls might come up and smack the unibody when you articulate the rear axle. (making a loud anoying noise)
