user profile suggestion- vehicle make?

I am a member of many automotive forums (bmw, ford etc)and one thing that I notice on the better organized ones is that their is a field in the user CP area somewhere to list your car. then it shows up by your avatar or location details when you post on the forum.

this helps in the tech areas since most people dont bother to post their year- only the problem they are having.

I have set up VBulletin software in the past to do this and it is easy, its in the admin control panel.

here is an example:
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=15596754&postcount=4

note his car info is displayed in each post. no need to speculate or ask him what year and engine it is.

This is important for a vehicle such as the XJ that was built over a long period of time with multiple engines.

Make it so please.

yeah well no shiz- but that does not appear by your posts does it? all I know about you based on the posts on this page is that you are from cincinatti- you could have a 85 rust bucket or a 2001 for all I know.

I'm just saying the field is there, all you have to do is click on the guy's profile, so there's "no need to speculate," as is.

Not a horrible idea to put it in the banner on each post, for convenience.

But the info does appear in the profile...

But not always gives the info!

'92 XJ

It only doesnt give the info if the person does not provide it. Which means the same thing will happen in the case suggested by the OP.

As far as the original topic, I think i would be a good idea but not exactly that necessary...

I will agree that your vehicle information would be a lot more useful than knowing that you use AIM and Yahoo...
