Well... with the holiday activities and new years stuff; i stayed busy and didn't have much jeepin' time.

So i got a jump start on 2010 with the XJ... haven't said too much about the "operation"... but some knew it would come one day. well i finally gathered all my pieces to the puzzle, and set to putting it together over a few evenings after work in january...

as pictures do so well, i'm goint to let the explain most of what's going on... for those of you wanting to read a write up, well:

i swapped my LP30 for a HP30, which i had already geared to 4.10s
and a couple weeks later, i plasma'd the brackets on my 4.10 geared C4C 8.8
and swapped it for my 29 spline 8.25... by welding on Ballistic Fab spring perches and homemade shock mounts...

...on with the pictures!

and there ya have it... HP30 and 8.8 with 4.10s!
...after a trip up the mountians and through the woods to Murphy, NC, i averaged 16mpg... from 12ish?

I'd also like to thank Tyler @ RSOR for the time and space to work on my jeep, and his assitance in moving the axles around and welding stuff for me...

very cool! 4:10s and 32s must seem wierd to regain all that power again!
33s should equal out the ratio better

Mark

looks good dan, i had the same setup but with 4.56's. 1 question...why did you put the shock mounts on the bottom of the tube? i did that initially as well, and actually ripped one off while climbing up a rocky hill (bent the shock in half as well). just a suggestion!

i didn't want to... but if i moved the mounts up, i would only have 1.5" of up travel with my shock, or less... i wanted to make an upper tube mount for the shocks like JKS and other aftermarket ones, but didn't have time...
they will get changed later this year i'm sure :dunno:

...and yes, the power increase is AWESOME!

Looks good!

Looks good Dan. Good video too. You should go drive around Atl before you get the shocks on there and see how many thumbs up you get.

Ah, Mr. Miller I see! He is a very good friend of mine! Lol, now all you need is a set of Aussies and you'll be set... until RSOR upgrades you by 2" and the reduction of one front control arm...??? so 4 links - 1 link = 3 links??? hhmmm. Sounds fun!

And Greg, trust me, Dan wont rip those shocks mounts off. They are 3/16" A572 steel, not 14 GA like the factory ones.

Thanks guys!

I definitely waited a long time to do this... and it was well worth it! With the gearing I've gained back some gas mileage and a noticeable increase in power...

Wont be too long before I do some more stuff to it :)

Are you running a SYE and did you use any kind of wheel spacers?

Looks really good. I have the same parts waiting to go in someday.

...

That is funny. Ya know I had a dude in GA try to sell me that Chili Pepper Red XJ that had the leaf sprung front....maybe 8 inches of lift...he said he'd been driving around with no rear shocks for a while...he just didn't have time ...and it was no big deal....hmmmmm

Looks really good Dan!!

Thanks guys...

Ed, Tyler beat me to it... lol
