Un-Denting Unibody

I have a dent in my frame rail. Any ideas on how to pull the dent? Anybody ever try to weld a bar to the dent and pull it out that way. I've seen this done for sheet metal damage but I don't know if it would work for the heavier gage metal used on our unibody.

Can be done by welding a piece of metal on to the dented area and using a frame clamp or a chain bolted up to the metal. Then use a porta-power or wrap the chain around a floor jack while lifting the vehicle at a lift point near the dent. Use some wood blocks to support the lift area so that it does not bend before the dent comes out.

I think I would leave it alone. The more metal is bent, the less strength it will have as it gets fatigued. Changes are, that you'll dent that same spot again even easier next time. If you do pull it, I would reinforce the area.

My plan is to reinforce it but would like to pull the dent before welding up the reinforcement. I'm looking at the TNT unibody stiffeners.

I wouldnt touch it!Metal that has been bent may even "add" strength, any welding will just cause further stress cracks around the welded area.
