Tube Fendered XJ? Anyone?

why would anyone want to make their jeep wider?

hmmm

Wider?? If you mean by making flares that attempt to cover your tires then yes the front is about 2" wider than it was with rear TJ flares on. If you look down the flare it is pretty much dead even with the rear now. No more tapered nose.

As far the sheet goes, I used 12 gauge and put it outside the tubes. Used the tubes as the former, just weld it along the top and roll it down over the tubes. You could use tabs and bolt it to the center, inside the tubes. I wouldn't put it under because they would just fill with mud/water.

Just so Detours doesn't have an anurizm the logo has been removed and is being reworked WITHOUT any STOLEN COPYRIGHTED artwork.

Do you really think steel tubing is going to keep you from fitting places you otherwise wouldn't? It's exo protection, stiffens the chassis/body, protect you and looks hardcore.

Pony, How are the tubes attached to the inner fender? Did you use the stock mounting locations or are the tubes only attached to your rockers and front bumper? I am considering running full width 3/4 ton Chevy axles and I think this is the ticket for not getting a ticket.

ok thats not the best argument. yeah it will in some places.

I think I get the idea. Do you possibly have a pic of this or possibly the connections near the door? I would have to modify my front bumper to tie the fenders in to it like you did. I am trying to think of ways to keep them removable.

I'd be interested in a set of tube fenders. I'm here in NC as well, and just bought my 1999 XJ off NC4x4. At this time it has NO front fenders (see pic), so I am looking to do something. I'd like a set that will be trimmed to track along the inner fender, if you know what I mean. The company "Searchers" makes a set. Here is the link that I found....passed to me from a fellow XJer.
