Trying to make a MPG chart for tires/gearing. Please post here...

An admirable effort, but one that should have its final product LOADED with disclaimers! There are too many variables to take into account, with engine maintenance and condition topping the list!

I think the Yahoo! group on using acetone in fuel is called "pes_acetone" or something similar - might be worth checking out. Also, Google "Pure Energy Systems" and see what you find out.

I tried acetone for a little while - I didn't get the boost they claimed, but I did get some increase, and it didn't go away immediately when I stopped (which means it was probably due to cleaning.) Acetone is already used in gasoline as a cleaning additive, so you're not adding something that isn't there, you're just changing the concentration of something that is.

I don't run acetone constantly anymore, but I do run about 4oz/tank every other month as a "maintenance cleaning," which does seem to keep that extra 2mpg or so around...

1996 4.0L/aw4 with 4.5 lift on 33x12.50x15 trxus on 15x8 steel rims w/ 4.56 gears and I get 17 to 18 MPG driving backroads 55 to 60 MPH 100 miles a day, with the AC off and with all four windows down. Also I have a C4x4 bumper with a full sized spare, rock rails, and I carry alot of tools and stuff in my Jeep. Oh and to increse my drag I have a surco roof rack up top holding my hi-lift. I hope this is complete enough of a list.

Edit: My Jeep has 102k on it with decent routine maintenance.

Okay I'll bite....
4.0, 4:88 and 33's. Its getting an average of 22mpg. Wait....I hadn't changed out my speedo gear when I calculated that (the first clue was when it said I was going 100mph down the highway and I got passed by a Hodaka :D)
I'm getting 12mpg average, don't drive highways much....
Hey, I live in the desert, we don't have highways!

3+ mpg on freeway after windscreen

best i ever got was 25 from oregon coast to portland 2 4th of july's ago.
(wind was going my way)

on the acetone issue, it lowers the s/t of the gas, (surface tension) allowing it to vaporize more easily at lower temps ... and cleans the engine.
