hey guys, i'm in a bit of a jam. as soon as i got my new waggy motor running right, the transmission crapped out on me. i got to drive it all of 3 full days, and now when it gets to operating temp, it won't move. seems like my luck. there's a huge puddle of fluid under it, and it smells burnt.
do any of you know how to rebuild a mopar tourque-flight 727 transmission, or know someone who can? i don't want to take it to anymore shops where i don't know the people there, or know someone who does, but i don't want to spend more than a grand, even if i have to pull it out myself and take it to somebody. as of now the jeep is on craigslist, just to see what people will offer, but i'd really rather fix it, since i'm already balls deep in it financially, and i know i won't get my money back out of it with a bad transmission.
EDIT: Ed, you totally called this one. i drove it for a couple days without the throttle valve linkage, and then hooked it back up. it was great for another couple days, then took a crap on me. i wish i had known how to hook it up and adjust it the day i drove it home! it took 3 days to get someone on the fullsize forum to explain it clearly. i guess that was too late.:(

I know someone, I will give them a call and see if they are still rebuilding transmissions. For those of us who don't know what year is it? Last time i had him rebuild something it was cost of rebuild kit ($200) and $200 or so for his time that was for a 904. If that don't work I can ask around the mopar club down here. :)

well fellers, i got a free 727 today, that will work for now, and i can get the old one rebuilt, while driving it. it's a 1990 grand wagoneer with the 360. i think i want to deal with someone local, but i'll call the 727specialist guys and see what it'll take to get one.

too bad you're not closer to chatt. i work at a transmission shop. my uncle and i do a lot of side work. i pull em he builds em. couldn't give you a price now though. if you still want to build the other one, shoot me a pm, maybe we could work something out.

for now, does anybody wanna donate about 10 quarts of dex-merc to the cause of me having transportation again?:D
as it is, the wife wants me to quit spending money, so i'll be swapping the transmission in, and parking it without fluid until i get payed again...
i would have been fine, but my dog suffered a major injury, and is at the vet being repaired.:(

well, including the torque converter, it holds about 8 quarts, i think. that's what i was told. it's cheaper in the gallon jugs, and i'm ok with the o'reilly house brand, or whatever store it comes from.... about $20 worth.
