Transmission Plug--Weird

:looney: Okay, this belongs in another forum, but I don't know which one so... here's your sign. I have a '04 Chevy pickup with what looks like a drain plug on the tranny pan but the plug's head is flared so that neither a metric or English socket will fit. Is this thing really a plug or not? And what do you use to get the thing off? Sorry for the odd post, but I know someone out there knows the answer.:compwork: Thanks
 
Try a Chevy forum maybe someone over there knows. Or put an AW4 in your cheby then ask over here.
 
Two suggestions: first, you could check the owner's manual, though it's unlikely there will be anything useful there. Second, how about going to a NAPA or other auto parts store, and asking if there's special tool for it. If there is, you can either buy it or look at it and see if it's something you can duplicate.
 
Mitchell just says to "Remove drain plug, if so equipped," and then goes to the next step. I'll keep looking. By the way, is is the 4-L60-E or 4-L65-E? Not sure if it really makes much difference, though, as I don't know Chevys at all.
 
Um this is a Jeep Forum the last time I checked. You can't post your question in the correct location because YOU are NOT a member of NAXJA. There are a lot of chevy forums that you could join for free also. But the transmission that you have is the... can't even tell you cause you didn't give enuff info. It could be the 4L80-E, 4L85-E, 4L60-E, or the 4L65-E. Chevy didn't start putting the 6 speed in untill 2005 and only in the HD models.

The way you sounded seems like you place him lower than you "red" and "green" members...FYI.

I don't see you being an administrator either, so I don't think it's your prerogative to tell him to find a Chevrolet forum.
 
I thought we could talk about anything here on :NAXJA: . I was apparently wrong. I have a 90 Cherokee which I drive daily and am very proud of. I read this forum everyday and it has been a great help and I thought of the guys (and gals) on here as family. Too bad too rude.

I won't be back.
 
Technically, yes; stuff should be posted in the off-topic forum that doesn't pertain to Jeeps.

But 1985XJLaredo took it too far (in my opinion).

Thank you. I've felt as though I've had to defend myself several times over the past few years because I'm not "Red," and it helps to have another generously contributing person state as much. I have mentioned in these circumstances once or twice that GoJeep isn't "Red," either, but no one seems to notice. Granted, Marcus (GoJeep) is an XJ institution unto himself, but the idea is there.

Back on topic, I still can't find anything to help the situation with your tranny's drain plug. That really frustrates me, as a librarian, and I will keep looking to see if I can find anything. I'll post back even if I don't find an answer.
EDIT: Maybe I'll just have to P.M. you what I find so that no one can bitch about it being non-XJ related.

No, I couldn't care less (notice I typed "couldn't" not "could" as 95% of American morons would have)-- I'm actually a former English teacher, and I do respect the forum filing system. I just decided to help a guy out without going through the P.M. system. Get over it.
EDIT: Oh, yeah. I forgot--let me guess, I'm going to be "Nominated" again for this. Whatever.
