Transfercase rebuild question...

I am rebuilding a 231 (really simple process) however am having issues getting one bearing out. The rear bearing on the front output that is in the rear part of the case it's self. I am afraid to pry to much since the case is aluminum. Any ideas?

I haven't done it in a while, but i think if you cut the outer part the needle bearings ride on you should be able to pry it out afterwards.

That bearing is in real tight! It takes a special tool to remove it (blind hole bearing puller).
When I did mine I just took it to a local shop and had them pull it.

Iam going to be rebuilding a 231 soon . Can you buy a service manual and whats the best place to get a rebuild kit with a HD SYE ? Does it take alot of special tools?

I have done mine with no special tools except snap ring pliers. Got my rebuild kit off ebay and am very happy with it. Tonight I go after this one last bearing.
